    re: Arrivals, departures & youth

Good post deano and welcome back!

I agree, too much dead wood. I understood the need to get players in at the start of the season but there are far too many. In hindsight quality over quantity would have been the best method and replacing Tavernier, Agard and Thomas should have been the main focus. We play in one less tournament, come in another two rounds later in the FA Cup and have international breaks. A squad of about twenty should do, shouldn't it?

    Collin (Loach/Thompson)
    Richardson
    Bradley
    Arnason
    Wood
    Morgan
    Skarz
    Pringle
    Frecklington
    Green
    Smallwood
    Revell
    JCH
    Bowery
    Becchio

Any of the rest could go for me in an attempt to get some quality in and maybe pay someone top wages.

We desperately need a right winger with pace who is right footed.

We desperately need a creative central-midfielder. I remember Ronnie spent some money on John Mullin in the first season in the Championship and him adding that bit of quality. Feels like a similar situation now.

    We need an attacking

So here's the problem. All the posts so far are just getting rid of the players that don't figure in the starting 11.

The starting 11 themselves are not good enough. Looking at the squad without significant investment we are down. IMHO only The signing of Becchio has indicated any real threat to stay in this division, sadly that went wrong unluckily.

You're right DV but the point of concentrating on moving the myriad of players not involved is so we can free capital to invest in fewer, better quality players who will be capable of challenging/replacing the current starting XI

Yes but that's not going to happen. Today's incoming is a sign of things to come I'm afraid. The Man Utd lad is no doubt a talent otherwise he wouldn't be at Old Trafford but he's unlikely to contribute to a struggling side.

If I relate it to last year...Tavs came into a form team and made a difference because he wasn't under pressure to perform. We need experience at this level...experience not fodder like what's been signed in the summer.

I don't blame Evans. He hasn't had the money required to exist at this level. I don't blame Tony Stewart...this all came too soon for Rufc. Victims of their own success.

That said, I predict Evans will be gone before January is out.

Odd's 1-10 will be gone Jan. He's made mistakes but he's prob' the best thing we've had since TD. I'm including Porterfield, Emlyne & Ronnie.

Lawrence has signed, could be 1 or 2 more and expect a couple to go out too. Could be a busy day.

I mean 1-10 to still be here in jan' I'm not saying he's best mananager we've had. He's got that Tommy Doc' appeal.

Hope he gets right players in this loan window to get us out of bottom 3 before jan' Then sort squad out.

So what are the odds on anybody correctly predicting the team for Saturday? (But could be same old with new faces on the bench!)
