we want a LONG PROVEN track record, not short lived odd season successes.
JR - please supply the list of available managers with "a LONG PROVEN track record." Having been a manager for a long time and/or a lot of times simply doesn't mean ANYTHING!. Go to Wikipedia and read through the details of Warnock's managerial career. It's like a roller-coaster.

Not true - he got the team on a long unbeaten run last season.
But that's not the point. We are now talking about a replacement. I assume you HAVE taken the trou

This is the problem. None of them has the quality to make you feel, "He's the one!"
I suppose they wouldn't be available if they had that factor.

As for Billy Davies, he was really only successful at PNE, and - to be honest - he comes across as a real weirdo.

I've just home after a whooping and completely unnecessary diversion through bleedin' Preston.

We were outplayed by a better team, simple as tonight. The Rovers players put in a good shift, if they played like that most weeks, we’d be in the top 6 and tonight’s result wouldn’t be such a bad thing. We defended pretty well, (their 2nd was a screamer, albeit from an error in our midfield that led to Norwich getting possession). It could easily have been 1 – 4 had Norwich not missed 2 sitters in the 1st half. But our lads moved the ball quickly and in some respects we were a bit unlucky. Had King lasted longer than 3 minutes it might have been a different result, as Norwich defend high enough up the pitch for King to actually get past them. Clearly the 2nd half plan was ‘defend like hell and lump up to Kingy whenever you can,’ but it wasn’t to be. One player tonight that isn’t good enough is Chris Brown. Had he scored the equaliser he would still be sh1te, but it would have been a welcom
