    re: Yes or No

Have to agree with the last post from hurried. Kerr was a decent player, no doubt about it, but we have brought in a better player in miller, and this is an opinion shared by a large number of Falkirk supporters. Most, if not all of us said we weren't worried about Baird leaving. 3 goals in half a season from a striker isn't exactly a lot to lose.

Should we have replaced him at the time? IMO yes we should have, but the board/manager would have been looking at what was available and measuring it against what we had. What would have been the point in bringing in a striker that was crap. Then they would be accused of being wasteful and crap at running the club therefore I understand the reasons for not bringing in another striker. So to say there is a lack of ambition at the club is harsh to say the least for this reason alone.

The fact remains that if the club bought ronaldo or messi and brought fergie in as manager, there will still be supporters saying the club lack ambition cos we

    re: Yes or No

I think the biggest problem we have is that it is more than 50 years since we were in the top division which has a double whammy effect.
The loyal fans think this is about as good as it gets because, for most of them, compared to previous seasons, finishing 5th in the second tier is wonderful.
For the fans with a passing interest, there is absolutely no belief that the club has any intention of being promoted to the top division because nobody has ever seen it happen before.
So, on the one hand there are about 1,500 folk who will put up with just about anything. And the rest of the population pretty much have it entrenched in their heads that nothing will ever change.
It isn't the same for a lot of the other clubs in our league and even some in the division below. If you have seen your club in the top league, finishing mid table in the Championship isn't necessarily all that great. And if you've seen your team in the top division, there is a belief that you can get back there.

Some good points on this thread, however the debate spawns from the fact that we should have beaten Falkirk in the quarter final and we should have been going to Hampden on the 18th of April.

That of course didn't happen and so a lot of people feel let down and disappointed, leading to criticism across the spectrum.

I believe our BOD are doing and have done a fantastic job of making Queens one of the best teams in the country. Every team wants to be the best and some attempt to do so by spending beyond their means, but QOS have a broad based income stream which should ensure that the boom and bust experience of the last seven years should never be repeated.

We have to remember that football is not an exact science, and with any experiment mistakes will be made by BOD's and rookie managers, before the magic potion is eventually discovered.

There have been mistakes, and there will be mistakes in the future, but if we take stock and remove our personal frustrations from the equa

To answer the question, I would say Yes. But then I also predict a Queens win every single week on the Predictor, on a matter of principle.

In terms of where Queens are now, I have a long memory going back to my first game in 1966 and I could put a case that the present team are the best I've seen and light years ahead of where we were just two decades ago.

We are full time, in the black, with a fair sprinkling of both young players and local players.

At the start of this season we lost our manager and were forced to run with a young and inexperienced manager, but despite being in the same league as Hearts, Hibs, and Rangers it looks as though we will collect more points this season than last year or indeed any other year in this division.

I will be as disappointed as anyone if we slide out of fourth, but at the end of the season I will still look back at reflect it's been a cracker of a season. (Might change my mind if we lose the next 8 games!)

And the Kerr/Baird thing is somet

my main concern is that most of our squad are out of contract at end of season ,my gut tells me that most of these players gave it a go for another season thinking we could get promoted ,therfor if we dont get into the playoffs i can see most of them moving on which means a mass rebuilding job for next season .

anyways we all know queens over the decades ,known for getting beat by a bottom club them going out and beating a big club so unpredictable ,so it just wouldnt surprize me atol if we go up to tyncastle and come back with a win .

On the balance of probability I think it more likely that we shall finish 5th rather than 4th. As nithvalley points out, in a worst case scenario we could be eleven points adrift of Falkirk by the time they next come to Palmerston on 12 April. Does the club suffer from lack of ambition or are our limitations down to lack of finance? I have argued often that money is the most important ingredient in determining success in football, and in Scottish football in particular. Why do you think that Celtic are currently dominating Scottish football? Certainly not because they have a particularly talented manager but because they have a playing budget that is at least five times greater than any other team in the league. It is not by accident that Hearts, Hibs and Rangers occupy the top three places in the Championship: nor for that matter that Alloa, Cowdenbeath and Dumbarton occupy three of the bottom four places in the league.
The first rule in football? He who has most money wins!!! I know

I think we might just get over the Kirkcaldy "blip" from Tuesday night and get 4th place.
We know that when this team are on form and are all playing well they are a match for any side in the league (Hearts included).
Falkirk certainly seem to have a much easier run of games over the next couple of weeks but they also have the cup semi final to think about. I am sure most of their players (Kerr and Baird excepted) will be keen to be involved at Hampden and will be looking to keep fit and available for that. This may take their focus away from their so called easier league games resulting in a few dropped points here and there.
For us tommorows game v Hearts should be our hardest game left and we are not really expected to take anything from it, but the following weeks trip to Easter road will see us face a Hibs team who may now have doubts in their minds following the poor performance and result v Rangers. They are away v Raith tommorow and if they don't win that then they may recede

For what it's worth I have Falkirk to win today on my fixed odds coupon. With my recent luck there's some points that they will most likely drop .
Regards the topic of the thread..If we play to our best it's yes,we will make the play offs, but we will be beaten over two legs by Hibs or the currant buns.
