I guess that will be down to the individual concerned. Footballers are not all the same. Just as you and your colleagues will differ in many ways, so will they. Some will care about how they are seen and their reputation and some will be like Vardy.

I don’t see how remuneration comes into it either. Not everything has a price. The press (both national and local) don’t help in that matter. I wonder how much longer the DT will go on having to mention “£6m” in an article is about Bradley Johnson.

Agreed - but I can't help but think that being highlighted on Match of the Day (for example) as someone who has clearly cheated would make more of them think - current pundits are scared stiff of calling someone out - whether that's using terms (as has already been pointed out) such as 'winning' a penalty or else using gentler terms such as simulation - call them cheats and see whether it reduces the number diving or feigning injury.

Gaspode, I'm all in favour of restrospective video analysis of dives and players receiving subsequent bans/cards/fines for cheating accordingly...but hand on heart - and in no way out of sympathy for Vardy or Leicester - I've probably now seen that one half a dozen times and I still can't call it. Could have been a penalty...could have been a 'tangle' and play on but I really can't see it as a clear example of cheating or being worthy of a caution.

I think you have to consider the fact that Vardy had managed to run in a straight line and in a normal fashion for 20 yards before he felt the defender touch his side, at which point his legs mysteriously flew to one side causing the tangle of legs - not a dive in the traditional sense, but certainly a deliberate act to cause the collision and 'win' a penalty (in my opinion)

I wouldn't want a player at Derby that would rather put his personal reputation ahead of benefiting the team.

Anyway, it's a part of the game now and it's not going to change. No matter how much th
