    re: Summer changes

Agree almost entirely with the initial review of changes - my only differences are to keep Forsyth & I think Martin's time is nearly up - he has too many sulky games & whilst I understand that goals inevitably come in fits and starts his droughts are becoming regular & prolonged. Last night he offered very little and too often becomes petulant and lazy - having said that he has scored 20 goals this season which is difficult to argue with but for me we need to find another option - which granted is easier said than done as it is a v specialist role in our team format - really think Blackman needs some game time at CF - don't forget he as the Championship top scorer when we bought him

Problem is if you keep most of the same team as suggested, we will finish in the same position in the league at best because that's how good we are. After 3 or 4 seasons persisting with a lot of these players a significant change is required. Having said that finishing 5th would be quite an achievement next seasons considering the introduction of Newcastle, Norwich and Villa under new ownership.

I understand the point ...but 5th was only 10 points away from 2nd...and that is variance caused by a combinatioin of factors...injuries, poor performance / off days, poor referee decisions and so on. It's a thin line and just doesn't justify throwing the baby out with the bath water.

Do you think a new manager and spending a few million quid on brand new players will achieve more? Isn't that what Florist have been doing for the last 15 years? Where are they now?

Manx's Your spot on he manager must come first Like the idea of two strikers Burnley and Boro use it big man little man is a proven method but we have no hope of getting Defoe No realistic maybe a gamble Ricky Lmbert from WBA and Wells from Hudders one of our biggest problems is lack of quality crosses coming in from the right Because of having to play left footed players there ho will always cut inside I would like to see this rectified with someone like Cotteral from Brum or Feeney from Bolton Even try for Dyer from Swansea he is surplus there

In agreement with most of the above.

I too would keep Fozzy, also offers wing cover and has displayed the right sort of character for our team, in the past. Would still like to see Bent off Martin for a good few games. Think Martin has the brain to provide for Bent, but do they get on enough?

Squad cohesion is the big issue for me. We need to see who wants to stay and fight for a place, who feels let down by being bought in under false pretences, who is now ready to try elsewhere? ( I wonder if Bryson, Martin, Russell, Jeff will want to dust off and go again, or fancy a change).

real thought, care and patience needed by MM and the powers that be in appointing someone (if not DW), deciding a style of play and who wants to leave BEFORE we sign anyone.

I'd rather a chunk of our budget went to paying up contracts of those not wanted than on adding even more faces to the dressing room

Not entirely sure where you're coming from on the manager front Ella. Agree with you entirely about some of the comments aimed at Wassall but your 'really Sherlock' comment suggests it's obvious that we need 'an experienced manager to take us to the next level' while at other times you seem to want DW to remain in place, perhaps with an experienced mentor.
I understand the continuity argument and the examples provided but the situation needs resolving soon, imo, in order to avoid last summer's mistakes. There are plenty of suggestions, in no particular order...Pearson, Rowett, Flores, Martinez, Hecking, Holloway, Rogers, Moyes, Stimac...can you see one of them being appointed or would you stick with DW and employ one of the above, or a.n.other, as a 'mentor'?

Looking at last nights game I thought Hendrick played the DCM role very well and provided a lot of energy. I was disappointed with the crossing of both backs. Too often they floated the ball in; nothing wrong per se with that but it has to be pinpoint accurate to achieve anything.

The other thing that disappointed was the lack of direct attempts at goal. It's all well and good having lots of possession, but we have to make it count more often.

Not all of the points I've made necessarily relate to the players' abilities but are more about tactics. Our current squad should be good enough to get out of the Championship at a canter, but we need to become more direct and clinical.

    Players:

Olsson is, as we have seen, very capable of putting in good pacey crosses, whereas Forsyth's crossing is mediocre, although I suspect he is a better defender.

I remember Ince being the stand out player in the Championship when he played for Blackpool, but I seem to remember him playing mor

Leicester seem to have kept most of the same team they finished last season with - they didn't finish in the same position as the previous season. I firmly believe, as I have said elsewhere, that the players we have at the moment have massively underachieved this season, playing to nothing near their true potential. There are one or two that, on the face of it, are not for us but in the main they are perfectly capable of winning automatic promotion next season if we are able to find a manager who can fully exploit their talent

On the management front, I simply do not think it will ever be a success with Darren Wassall in charge.Mainly due to the fact that the majority don't want him as long term manager, and therefore we ( the fans, club, management) would not be pulling in the same direction.
It definitely needs a new broom as manager in my opinion regardless.
