At long last we have funded our sports to create champions, across the olympic spectrum, and long may that continue. I really believe that success in sport reflects on the country greatly in terms of how the world sees us, brilliant to see.

    Love the Olympics me!!

What a golden day on Sunday after a pretty good Saturday! Don't suppose we'll see the Andy Murray knockers on here for a while after the past month he's had.

Too right millmoormagic about funding, although I need to ask monty if I'm allowed an opinion as an ex-pat Read an article about one of the rowers who had never rowed in his life but was identified at school by Olympic 'talent spotters' as having the right physique to make it and as he said, just 13 years of training later he now has his gold medal.

That's what I love about the Olympics, one minute a bronze medal for chucking a 10lb lump of metal 200' and the next a gold medal for a dancing horse and rider.

Classic Colemanballs on the Canadian triathlon commentary:-

"I wonder if two brothers have ever won gold and silver in the same Olympic event?"

"I'm not sure? Maybe brothers have done it in the same boat of a rowing fours/eights!"

Football glory in a roundabout way as a geordie, John Herdman, is head coach of the Canadian Women's team who just beat Brazil for the bronze. Hope his comments to Canadian TV don't get translated too literally over here or he might get arrested:-

"I'm buggered. They are all buggered."

Brazilian official spots infringement by UK 4x400 relay team which no one else saw and for which there is no photographic evidence and amazingly our DQ lets Brazil through.

Certainly smells fishier than a night out in Grimsby with a lass with poor personal hygiene.

DQ'd for an infringement that nobody saw and has never been enforced before in a major tournament. What's more it's also brought negative karma on team GB with a quite a few things not going our way since it happened.
