I actually agree that we should save the front of the building.
As I understand it, councils have a duty to have special regard for listed buildings. They are unlikely to approve anything unless English Heritage is satisfied.
The plans would have to show the special circumstances and the benefits to the community (economic) vs the loss of the listed building. In this case, so long as the heritage of the area is preserved in some way, I would hope a compromise would be found. It has been years though.
You can see the picture now....tuesday night, cold, wet, and the usual gale force wind blowing...guest and chrimes still up, temporary metal fencing still up, weeds taller..Losing to rochdale and 3,300 attendance..it looks a great possibility now...youve got to feel for ts..im sure if he was mega rich he'd look after us but he hasnt got the clout needed for a championship side..and now add to this the player problem..almost all not good enough, and on long contracts...its all like a bad dream but not unexpected, we should be used to it by now..the really bad thing for me though, is that this lot arnt good enough to come back up ...
The really bad thing for me is that this mess has been allowed to happen.
When we first got into the Championship the powers that be should have drawn up a coherent plan detailing how the club would initially establish itself in the division and subsequently progress from there.
Unfortunately this has not happened and we have lurched from crisis to crisis as a result of several bad decisions and a lack of adequate investment in the playing squad and overall infrastructure of the club.
And now, in our third season in the Championship the pigeons are coming home to roost.
Tony Stewart has done wonders for the club but has probably achieved as much as he can with the resources available to him.
He set up his Technical Committee which was supposed to ensure the team manager was given a fair chance in terms of financial support to enable him to bring in quality players but the reality has been completely different. Committees rarely improve things!
The problems at the club appear deep rooted and there are no easy answers.
People, including me, have said TS needs to bring additional investment to the club but that won't be easy and wouldn't be a cure all in any case.
I desperately want us to stay in the Championship but fear this season will be a step too far even though Kenny Jackett is probably the best appointment we could have hoped for. If
But if we do stay up what then? What is the plan for next season and subsequent ones?
I think we should be told.
Is it worth saving ? How much would it cost to renovate ?
