Build a team of seasoned pros , 28-32 years of age .
Flawed , for the most part no hunger or desire to improve and more of a nice number heading towards retirement .
No resale value , constantly funding players coming in whilst receiving nothing when they exit .
Nothing wrong with one or two , a squad full of em would be a disaster .

Haha, see what I did there.
The kind words are nice. Just to clarify im not connected with the club in any capacity etc. Everything I have stated, baring a 2-3 minute conversation is on record.
I see Tony Stewart from time to time, he likes getting his chips from the chippie near my place - which must be a detour unless hes been to a meeting. I would, if social circumstances allow, love to tell him this. I do know someone who has links to RUFC and i've been told that people at the club do read this board - it would be stupid no to.
This post wasnt meant to knock Tony, far from it. But I've felt this cooking since meeting said un-named player (obvious reasons - yes they left) told me what he felt whilst he was coming back from a meeting with his agent. It was the few times ive seen him and the millers shirt forced a conversation.
I cant state im a die hard thats been there through thick and thin the past few years, ive not been a season ticket holder since Don Valley and go as frequently and when I can - oddly I went more through the really dark days than I can now owing to commitments. Id say Ive seen about 25-30 games at NYS since we hit the championship. Still, from what I have seen in person this season, listened to and watched at reserve games its clear something, somewhere isnt right. That may or may not tarnish my credability in posting this, but when you follow the team as I do, have a good memory and have a passion for football you do build things up. I simply havent had anywhere to vent it.
I just feel we have consistently gone for players in decline or players so young they are cast offs. Indeed Bowery and JCH were much the same as time has proven, Bowery failed at a Villa side and JCH - for all his talent - will only come good with the right man if at all. Evans burnt through signings, TS backed him. Like it or like it not, he backed him. It may well be that TS didnt spend in the summmers so Evans had to change a lot, but I doubt it.
In the championship, wages are much much higher. We cant cycle like we did, our revenue just hasnt grown a fast as the bills, TS has foot the bill but there a limit and we have found it - for now. I just wish the comments were turned down.
I just listened to TS' interview from this evening. His words are the same again, as they were in the summer, when Stubbs left and again with Evo left. "Trenches, sleeves rolled up" all re-used. If thats what its about, we'd have had Holloway.
"Stand out candidate, head and shoulders above the rest, obvious choice, good experience, a leader" will be rolled out soon.....
One more thing, we do not need a "personality" at this club anymore so than any other club. We are not a special case.
The standout thing was that the Brinsworth site has been abandoned - why the hell did we buy it unless its a land grab and after X years its going to another holding company and on at a profit or passed onto the club. £250,000 is nothing on the training ground in 8 years, its less than a semi-detached in some parts of the town. Worse still, it isnt ours. Why?!
Being involved in a large local project that involves RMBC, now you say that I can believe it. Makes you wonder why if this was as clear cut as suggested, why the club bothered in the first place to allocate that space to something new.
Its not like we can go crazy because Parkgate and meadowhall corner that market already when it comes to suburban park retail.
5/6 Key players would not be a disaster and to be fair, bringing them in a 28-29 would give the club 3 or 4 years of service from that player. The players that have really done it for us recently have all been that sort of age.
We dont sell players for anything now, resale value is fine at 0 as long as the player can last years. Less agent fee's, less payoffs etc.
Then we can afford 8-9 players in other positions and benches etc that are younger, few lads early 20's etc.
CE going to reply cause sounds like your bothered. Burton have done what you said got players in to keep them in this league. TS I love him but he was dreaming. Reality bites at the end of this season. But we're not down yet.
Yep, they have.
Preston arent far off doing that. Key pro's in the team and they dont stop coming at you.
Warne hit the nail on the head in his post match interview about the 3-5-2 too. Clough has got them well setup and well drilled, they will sink like us at some point, but the basis would be there for a club with more resources to survive.
With that formation you can use two defensive wingers with pace to drop back or push up as wingbacks too. Stubbs actually tried wingbacks as I recall early on, thats the impression I had.
Mattock, Newell on the left and two extra players on the right, with two experienced centrebacks and a younger lad in the middle of the two with a bit more pace. Frecks in centre of midfield with Smallwood too and a player like a fit and firing Taylor would do well - a league lower down he'd look very good. Or another holding type player. JCH if fit behind a bigger striker up front.
3-5-2 Camp; Broadfoot Ball Wood; Fisher Vaulks Adeyemi Newell Belaid; Taylor D Ward
Right now, yes id go with that.
Nothing else in the squad.
Next seson we need to look at a few players we have previously come across. Joe Skarz should never have been released and id bring him in to cover the left should Mattock, well die.
We need a steady middle age player at the back and a midfielder and I think a man for the job would be Matt Lund at Roachdale. I've seen him at the lane when i've been dragged with friends and he impresssed me as did Allen, who I think is the skipper now.
Morgan Fox at Charlton is another player I like too and I feel would fit us should we go down, good young age with tons of experience in League One and wasnt that bad at this level either.
Lee Gregory - I wouldnt say no if we could secure him. Yes hes got a mouth but thats no bad character, we just didnt like it as we were on the end of it.
We will need to sign at least two strikers in the summer, possibly upto four depending on who goes and if we give Yates a chance. Frankly, id start playing him soon, League One will seem a doddle compared to this for him and he does come good and bangs them in than we can ship out with a fat profit.
I'm sure the last thing we want to do is a Darlington. A large stadium playing non-league. Let's hope this gets sorted out this theme round. We can't afford another c*^k up
