as for Shilton mate never forgot the pen shootout against Germany, went the right way most of the time but just too slow and cumbersome for the penalty task, they should have subbed him and brought the then young Dave Seaman in shame really!
and don't get me started on Rob Green what a clanger against the yanks!!
when it comes to consistency we are at best a joke!
    take care now

Evening John...Funny but .there's not much that I remember of this match other than Gazza's tears and Chris Waddle missing his penalty. As for Shilton, during his England career, there were a couple of phuck ups but they were few and far between and I frankly believed he inspired confidence....not like the lot we have had since!!
    Cheers

Wasnt Chris Woods the main back up to Peter Shilton between 88-90 ? I never rated Woods so maybe Shilton wasnt pushed hard enough in those final few years of his Intl career.
And just after WCup '90 I think we missed a massive opportunity to further improve on the squad and the teamwork that Bobby Robson had created in that tournament. Yes we got to Euro '92 but that, and the failure to get to WCup '94 was an absolute disaster.
