I've said I'm usually right more than I'm wrong. I said you don't get owt for nowt. Our signings this summer apart from Proctor & Moore how have they improved the side. I've said Emmanuel & Williams weren't good enough, does anyone agree now. I'll take back what I said about Taylor when he came on would say he was our best player. Vaulks wasn't perfect at Right back but better with him being on the pitch. We've got while is it late Thursday to sort it out. Emmanuel can go back. Price pay him up, he's never available for selection. Belaid surely will be gone unless he's done so. JCH has got to stop now. Need 3 proper signings. Not kids, not here for early retirement. Keeper, Centre back & Central midfield. Bring back Bailey-King. Bray at least on the bench to give Newell a wake-up call. Time for Purrington to be given the Left back shirt.
I wouldn't say we never looked like scoring,Proctor and Ajayi missed glaring chances,it looked harder to miss than score, but the performance was abysmal, and you do worry for the club, they have a complete losing mentality, and it is going to be difficult to get out of,even in this division,we are far to easy to beat, the squad as a whole are below average league one players at best, and a top half finish will be an achievement in my opinion.
No we weren't very good today and just huffed and puffed for the most part.
Charlton got their tactics dead right and looked after the ball much better than our lot did.
However, don't forget that we had TWO golden chances before they scored and passed them both up. Ajayi then had a good opportunity from a corner and headed it tamely wide.
If one or two of those had gone in things might have been different.
I'm slightly concerned now though because we don't seem to have an alternative way of playing when things are going against us.
Oh, and Kettle was dreadful......as usual.
Vaulks wasn't dreadful. Abit rusty. Stick with him. Said this before he gives something to side we haven't got. Abit of spirit + he's got the basic skills. He can cross a ball, got a shot on him. Was a lot better with him & Taylor on the Right. I'd play Cummings before Emmanuel. Got to stick with JCH. He'll be the same not match sharp.
It was my first chance to see the Millers today and for the first 10 minutes I was fairly impressed, but after that oh boy did it go wrong.
Easy to blame the ref, who was incompetent as usual but there are basic flaws there.
1. I assume because Moore has had a good goal scoring start that our main tactic is to lump the ball at him from 30 yards away? Our midfielders were completely out of the game. It was reminiscent of the way we used to lump the ball at Alex Revell.
2. Credit to the Charlton manager who set his number 22 out wide thus leaving Williams to decide whether to man mark him or to defend the space in front of Emmanuel. The outcome was Emmanuel was often trying to mark both men and ended up being run ragged. I assume Warne subbed Taylor to try to commit their number 22 to defending but the game was lost by then. It needed a plan B much much earlier.
3. The defence? A collection of individuals not a cohesive unit, individually they have talent but there's an obvious lack of defensive coaching at the club. Both goals should have been bread and butter defending. Fair enough it was a foul and a typical Kettle cock up leading to the second goal but the way Newell waved a leg at the guy that crossed the ball was very very weak. Even then it should have been defended out.
Overall, it looks like it's going to be a very long season
Fo ok me what happened to happy clappers
