Thread: Signings latest/Proctor update

Midfield is a big problem. Charlton made fools of us in the middle. Showed we lack pace. Only time and patience will change the side into something that works, i.e., several transfer windows. The frailties in midfield probably relay to both the back and forward line.

If it was me I'd get a centre back and a midfielder or two and give Jonno a run in the side with Da Ball just behind the front two.

I thought that came from midfield pushing back to do defence job

I see what you mean. It could be interpreted that way. The way I saw it, every one of our midfielders was second to every contested ball resulting in either a free kick to them or just being taken out of the game after being beat thus putting our defence under often unnecessary pressure. Frecks looks frightened of every challenge and even having hold of the ball he looked clueless. He's done. Potter has always been overrated. Newell isn't all that and if he's not sticking a foot in it's another waste of a shirt. Suffice to say that if you don't win the ball and look comfortable on it, sort of commanding midfield, how are you ever going to either run a game or protect the last line of defence? In effect Charlton pushed the whole team back throughout and the best defending was done by our forward line at times. No midfield of ours should be dominated and over run by a very average side at the NYS. But we were and it was embarrassing.

Cayton who are you counting in them 5 CB you talk about. wood? Lacks pace good for a sub and is probably being used to train others, belaid? we was told he had no future with us midfield in making maybe

As far as I can see only defenders we have are ball ajayi wood (as a sub) and that other one I can't spell. So 3 and a half

It's ok saying goalkeepers being addressed how we only have a day and a half to bring one in and I seriously doubt price will come out of his house and onto the bench

It's all well and good saying we don't know when proctor is back and we may only need one until winter but let me remind you we already have Moore going back at winter. At min no matter how I look at it we have 4 strikers 2 of which need to go out on loan until winter as well as other players.

What would I do well for a start I'd get a keeper a striker and a defender on loan and I'd buy a striker a midfielder and defender and send vaulks Dom ball ajayi bilboe Yates and JCH all out on loan.

It's not just about creating a squad for the season it's about giving game time and preparation for next season by giving players game time

Your also forgetting the **** ref mate as well I think the fouls they made on us especially midfield would have had at least 2 of their players sent off. Ffs I saw one of them put potter in a head lock a smack in the head for proctor and a hurt knee later, come on you got more violence in that match than you did in that mcgreggor maywether fight

Sillymiller I've already said wood lacks pace but it's the rest of his game that would benefit the young defenders around him. Take a look at the extended highlights Vs Charlton. Every ball that was in the air ajayi didn't win. We are desperate for the young defenders to have a leader.. look back at who Evans and Warnock played in our CB partnership. Morgan arni davis Broadfoot wood plus several others over 30.. None were blessed with pace but all can defend.

    As said keeper being addressed

What makes you think Moore is going back in January? If Ipswich carry on at the rate they have started he will be sold in January and a stronger/better striker will be lined up for the run in.
all warne needs to do is make sure we're at the front of the cue to buy him.

You would buy and loan 6 players and ship 6 out on loan? Fk me you were fretting we only have a day n half left of the transfer window to get a keeper in 2 paragraphs earlier

IMO all we need is a keeper. A 25 year old (ish) midfielder and a loan striker.
Ok Yeah a CB if wood is not going to be given the roll but not a young lad..

Ffs were trying to complicate a easy game

Agree we are lacking an old head in defence, Ajayi hasn't adapted to L1 yet but hopefully it will come (well it bloody well better or I'll be ranting)

I know it was bad from an officiating perspective. I was fuming pal. But we all were even before a ball was kicked which didn't help our cause. I know our midfield and team in general can play better than that. I also think we have the odd player that's not currently in the side that will help matters in future not to mention new lads coming in.

My anger of everything on Saturday does cloud things somewhat!

I'm still angry from the time Charlton beat us 4-1 the other season! Another horrible day.

    Not a fan of theirs.

They are a very young back line. Was it Emmanuel that gave a cheap penalty away against Barnsley and Semi has made the odd error! They're just learning and should get better in time but an old head would help them no end. If not Wood then bring someone in to guide them and give them a bit of confidence.

I agree. We played most of last season with one striker D Ward. We've got Moore, JCH, Da Ball & Yates. We want a older head in Central defence but with a pulse. Younger legs in centre midfield. Da Ball can play as an attaching midfield player.
