I suspect it was more like when he signed it was a case of the players you've got plus £x to strengthen come January.

When Jacket realised what an absolute shower of ****e the squad was he went back to the board and said if you are serious about wanting to give it a fair crack of staying up you need to spend £y in January strengthening the squad.
