Yup-was just going to add exactly this. I think he thought Murphy was another piece of the jigsaw but not the main piece.

    Agree with both of you.

Murphy was bought with an eye for the future etc.

Had Rafa know what was going to happen i think there is no way he'd of spend the largest chunk of his budget on Murphy.

NUFC won the Championship but Huddersfield and Brighton are doing better than us so far. As for who we should have bought, I don't go along with this idea that we bought Joselu and Murphy expecting to buy a striker later. We should not have bought Joselu, full stop. His hold up play and whatever else he does is irrelevant. He cannot score goals so he's not a striker. If a goalkeeper can't save shots, you don't say he compensates for this by good distribution. I don't accept either that we bought Murphy for the future. You buy what you need first and if there's money left you can buy for the future. A major factor in our relegation was that we were buying players with potential but who weren't immediately for the PL.

I think Rafa is sucking the life out of this team.
I know he's world class and all that and he can organise and all that but there's just something about this man that I'm not too keen on.
I believe that any player that questions him or knocks on his door demanding to play or whatever, is banished and I also believe that when he has his blue eyed boys who say yes sir no sir for him, he chooses them over much better potential.

Am I having a little pop at him here?
Me who is usually a glass half full person.
No, I'm not having a little pop at Rafa....I want him out. I seriously want him gone.
We're going nowhere under this bloke, mark my words.

All we're going to get from him is negative football with the odd flirt of excitement thrown in every now and again.
I'm absolutely hoping to high hell for one of two things to happen.

    1. We get taken over very quickly and the new owners have plenty of cash and a new manager in mind.

    2. Rafa takes the west ham job when Slaven is sacked (probably sacked today) and we put in an interim manager until the takeover happens or a new manager if a takeover doesn't happen.

I don't trust Rafa Benitez to go out and buy us anything worthwhile to give us any exciting football to watch and I'm not going to be happy to just accept the old stories of " ahhh but he's organising us from the back to front and we will gain points and stability."

    NO....NO....NO....NO.....

He's too negative for most teams but for Newcastle United he's the most negative manager we've had since I can remember.
His brand of football is 99% horrible.

    Am I fickle?
Most likely but I'm also not happy about having to survive in the premier league on the back of excuses that we just don't have the players and have to play so cautiously.

Yeah our strikers aren't up to the job, it seems, but then again they're the one's that appear not to be schooled into doing it and it shows on that pitch when they spend the majority of their time chasing and tackling and harrying the opponent more than an y opponent ever has to worry about doing the same to them when 90% of the time they're feeding off scraps until one or two decent chances come their way, of which they appear to act like Oliver Twist being handed a bowl of fried chicken instead of his gruel and him saying " is this really for me?"

Now let me just add this bit.
I'm not saying this for a wind up and I'm not saying it to get bites. I promise you that.
I expect I'll get slaughtered for it but that's fair enough.
I'm getting it in because this is how I feel and I don't fancy us going into meltdown on the back of Rafa's mindset of play and players.

I'll guarantee you that if he doesn't leave soon, the players will revolt playing football like that and basically looking like they're under the thumb.

    Yeah I'm mad.
    Yeah I'm on a rant.

    But you know what?
I gave myself enough time to wait to air my views so I didn't type anything on a whim and this is how I genuinely feel.

I used to be the one that always said " ahhh wait, we'll come good" and " ahhh we're getting the small details right first" and all of that. "
This time I'm saying it as I see and feel it without using my heart and a mindset of having to be thankful that we have some kind of champions league/world class manager for Newcastle United.

If we have a world class manager then let him show us how the players rise to 10 feet tall and show their true worth as a full on balanced force, not a full on slogging one, which we are 90% of the time.

If I end up with egg on my face and Rafa somehow stays and turns us into a force then I'll eat massive humble pie. However, I honestly don't think I'll need to because I do not think he's the right man for the long term benefit of this club.

I'd rather people just read this and didn't comment if it winds them up because I seriously don't want a dig fest.
All I'll say is, pin this or something until the end of the season, or before and let's see if people see it differently to this.

    Irritation and rant over.

well if he is organising us from the back as these armchairs will tell you he is doing (after reading the kronickle)then he is failing miserably
we have only kept 2 clean sheets
thats not what you would expect from a supposed tactical genius as rafa is .even more so the teams we have played

    Raf doesnt turn teams around
he takes on winning teams and slownly they decline until he goes or gets sacked

in his early days in lower leagues he may of

but he certainly isnt turning us around
we were a bottom half team when he came and he took us down ,he didnt turn us around

anyone would have got us out of the fizzy and most a lot more convincing than rafa did

and this season we ard dire
    no plan b
    no attack
    no defence
he is getting done over in nearly every game

So we play on the counter-attack like all Rafa Benitez teams have done since forever. Even if we spend money that will not change, call it negative if you want but it has brought him immense success in his career and made teams perform above their station and more than the sum of their parts. That Liverpool team he took to 2 Champions league finals had no business being there, they were sh!te but his brand of football is proven to work, even if it ain't pretty.

Make no mistake, we are a Championship team that didn't invest in the summer properly. What do you expect from us at this level? Do you think the other promoted teams are any less defensive? His hands are tied behind his back because of idiots upstairs. If he was allowed to get the striker and midfielder he wanted, we would have put that game to bed by half time.

I'll agree with you that he is headstrong which is annoying because Mitrovic should have played, he made a mistake there, but at the same time I'm happy that he is sending a message......'if you are indisciplined and untrustworthy you don't play'. Obviously Mitrovic has toffee for brains because what does he go and do when Rafa gave him a chance again.......well i think you watched the West Ham game.

Absolute mistake to want Rafa out. The word Self-harm comes to mind.

if rafa is so clever he would have probabaly thought before he brought joelwho that gayle wasnt going to be his first choice neither mitro so why spend money on a forward who scored 5 goals the season before
why pend money on murphy and not a left back if you are building from the back (and then not play him)

we are in this mess because rafa wanted full controll

he had a massive job on his hands in getting the team to play
he didnt need to get rid of carr so quick and take more work on

carr could have been finding clubs for the deadwood even now and maybe finding players whilst rafa works on his defensive master plan

His hatred of Rafa means that he'll ignore any positive point that goes against his negative spin BenArfa.
