Surprised that Lincoln came out on top by some distance, as in my own memory we have generally been in a higher division than them (No offence to Lincoln!). Same goes for York, Halifax ,Crewe, Hartlepool, Chester and Darlingtpn.

The draws for the early rounds of the cup competitions have often been regionalised, also level 3 of the league was for several years, so not surprising that some local teams feature near the top of the list.

Given the factors previously mentioned, I wouldn't have expected to see Plymouth so high in the table, well ahead of Grimsby and S****horpe.

Remember 3 games in the League Cup against York City in 1977, so probably played them 5 times that season.

I remember us playing Burnley 4 times in a season and at least twice in the same week league and cup.

We played York City five times in the 1976/7 season
Three of those were FA Cup games
W1 (FA Cup) D4 L0 (Crawford scored 5 goals in those fixtures)

Then we played them in the League Cup three times in the 1977/8 season, but not in the league because they were relegated (finished bottom of Division 3)) at end of 1976/7. We knocked them out of the League Cup on penalties (6-5) at Bootham Crescent after yet another 1-1 draw after extra time

So that was EIGHT games against the Minstermen over just a couple of seasons! (It is a good day out though)

Think we played Hull City five times in a season, when Lee Glover was playing for us (need to check)

    Thanks for correction Mike.

I didn't bother with the replay (probably our first ever penalty shootout ?) after we'd won 3-0 at home and somehow managed to lose 0-3 away.

I was at the penalty shoot-out game - I think that it was the first season that it had been used in England. Sounds exciting, but it wasn't really. It was frustrating as we struggled to beat a fairly poor York team . We scraped through only to get WBA away in the next round. Cyrille Regis made his WBA debut and we got easily beaten 0-4.

Not a good season for us. Injuries, and lack of investment in new players meant that Trevor Womble had to keep filling various positions to patch the team up, as we finished one place above the Division Three drop zone

    Re Hull City

The season that I was thinking of was 1992/3 and before Lee Glover joined the Millers (I did see the game at Millmoor where he scored 4 goals against Hull in a Millers 5-4 win though)

    League Cup (A) 2-2
    League Cup (H) 1-0
    Div 2 (A) 1-0
    FA Cup (H)1-0
    Div 2 (H) 0-1

We'd obviously got a bit bored of playing them by the end

Are they still in the league?
I know we’ve only played Forest Green in the cup
