and this could be a loan or a perm. We need to secure Blackman and another CB and a midfielder with scoring ability = 4 needed IMO
Freeman should be used on the left if needed.

*******s to developing players for other teams. If we bring someone in on loan I want them to offer something we've not got, and be an integral part of the team. If not, let's build our own players for the future. Sick of getting ****ty loans from Prem teams who don't give a toss, don't perform and don't offer us anything except a black hole to chuck money down.

totally agree we,re in the championship not the 3rd division and we,re not here to develop other teams players. we need a loanee whos already raring to go and can do a bit. and reply to the other poster we need more than 4 players in, what happens if one of ya forwards or the centre half we just bought gets injured or red carded and misses games ,we,re back to what we have. we need at least 7 new signings

I was talking about a top Prem prospect who needs games....if one is available at reasonable cost. No need for industrial language if you don't agree.....just say 'no' mate. And Twirl, what if we can't afford 7 new players (not from lower leagues)?

My 'industrial language' wasn't aimed at you specifically, Chips. Just frustrates me that despite McCabe saying a long time ago that we'd learnt our lesson with loans, we're still bringing in other teams' youngsters to develop them. What benefits has having James Wilson at the club offered us? Nothing, but it's helped his development, working with a decently-sized club and being part of the squad.

As long as we accept our place in the pecking order as being somewhere that bigger clubs can send their development players whether it's beneficial for us or not, we'll never break free of those constraints. We need to start saying no and putting the money, time and effort into bringing through players we can build teams around, or at the very least sell at a good profit so we can re-invest in more players who'll continually improve our squad.

OK Carpe, I understand now but who is to provide the money? I do not want us to sell our souls to the devil and even as an OAP I
caution patience. Sunderland seem to have had a miracle in that the owner has cleared the debts similar to Mr McCabe did for us (even if at a higher monetary value) but the wages will be a killer for the new lot there unless they have billions.

That's the million dollar question, Chips! Perhaps there's some kind of middle ground between the two divisive figures of McCabe and the Prince (or any other foreign owner with no real link to the club).

To be fair, our only loanee this season has been utterly useless, so we might as well not have bothered. It wouldn't have cost us anything at all, and would in fact have saved us money.

It's the Twiss syndrome for us....others do much better. Perhaps we should get 3 in and send 2 back after we see if they can hack it?
