Collecting cans and using my magnet to check if they were alluminium then taking em' to scrap yard for extra pocket money. Used to spend hours in school holidays walking round weeding through hedges wiping muck off and fillin' em' up with stones to make em' weigh more

using a set of old pram wheels, whatever wood we could acquire (usually a pallet), some nails and a nut and bolt so the front axle could steer to make a 'trolley'.I think the yanks call them box carts ?
Bit of old rope to steer it with and a red hot poker ( cos we didnt have a drill) to put a hole through the cross member for the front axle.

Climb aboard then point it down Lamb Lane at Monk Bretton and hope a car didn't come up the hill.

    Wellies for brakes,sh1t for brains.

    Bloody loved it.

Aye Dooali old prams were like gold on our manor, we'd have a scrounge round the tip at Monk Bretton park (before they landscaped it) and hacksaw the axles of the prams we found.

In summer we'd climb over the wall of a tyre place on Wakefield Road ( can't remember name) nick inner tubes, use their air line to blow them up, then float down the Dearne from Smithies to Cundy Cross.

Water wa black and smelly and so were we when we got home. When I think about it we were shekkin hands wi danger most days but never gave it a second thought.

What a great business idea Exile; we'll call it Carts R Us.

We could either supply one in kit form ( old pallet, one long central plank, some nails, bit of draw rope and a set of pram wheels - old gloss paint optional) for lads and dads to build together. Alternatively we could supply them ready built to buy outright, hire, or even have a hire to buy scheme.

Soon be 6 weeks holidays, if we start nar we could corner the market before anybody else latches on.

But lets not mention it to the tax man eh ?? : )
