Which is bizarre and shows we have loonies in our support that maybe deserve what we have now, jmac molded the team that played so well in 13/14 and got us to the final (he put gauld and souttar in to the 12/13 so final with Celtic and we lost 4-3 aet and signed a few of the players), can't legislate for Dows chance hitting the inside of the post and then rados fk up right before half time to give them the opener, then ciftis fk off the underside of bar not going in off the keeper

Then the 14/15 season (after the sales of Gauld/A-Rob) by the end of January we were having our best league season since 1987 and 3rd best of all time after 1983 and 1987 plus had just beaten Aberdeen to reach another final AND had made it 4 wins and a draw under jmac in derbies including 4-1 at dens at 6-2 at Tannadice before the heart was ripped out of the team and club after the sales (lost GMS, Armstrong and both full backs in townsend and watson that month)

Where we got it wrong was the summer window, on top of losing those 4 in January, we lost fojut, butcher, rado, cifti, the team had been decimated and mcnamara fkd up with the replacements abs then not appointing a better manager than Jackie, we'd have honestly been better sticking with him if mixu was the alternative, I said so at the time

Anyway thats the facts, it's all irrelevant now, what's done is done, it's the now and going forward that is important, I really hope I'm wrong with my feeling about sticking any Csaba being a big mistake

Yea, sorry it was a bonkers view then and still is now in hindsight, would have been one of the craziest loony sackings in history... Think we'd have been looked at by everyone in dismay

Proven by how good a job was done the following season until ST decided to pull the rug from under not only Jackie but the team and club as a whole

Would have also stopped all the good results that happened bergen August and Feb that season, since unforgettable memories, games that I'm glad I was at 3-0 Pittodrie, 4-1 Dens, 1-0 Fojut 90 Derby lge cup, 3-3 at Easter Rd won on pens lge cup, 2-1 at Motherwell in scup from a goal down (missed ten one on ones before the late headers from souttar and Watson), beating Celtic around Chrismas, 6-2 derby NYD, beating the sheep at Hampden from a goal behind lge cup SF, going for 2nd and in a second consecutive final..... cue Thompson fkn it all

tbh i was just so frustrated after that final and Jmacs tactical frailities. Anyway i said it on this board straight after final.

Well ok agree there - those were happy times.

So maybe i am a good example of a fan who does not have a clue

Everyone was but our best manager ever had a weakness in multiple big finals, nothing really went for us that day, we were poor but the breaks went for them, the weather was crap, the venue was crap (much much prefer Hampden for a final, just had a proper feel, better atmosphere to it and great memories of sunny days in so finals and finals there) and just always had a gut feeling it was gonna be perths day

Thats all true Shedka. Do you think the trolleys have an open top bus around Dundee when we lose a final?

I think they got to a final once or twice - once i was only thinking of my team beating some team playing at a "neutral" home venue. The second was against their pimps. I still dont know the score (such is i dont care) but presume by the fact its no 6-5 they were unsuccessful. Silly wee team.

I was never in the get rid of Jackie camp until news of his contract broke and to be fair that was Thompson's fault, you are 100% correct about the final and bad recruitment in that fateful summer.I remember saying that Donaldson,Durnan and the keeper's could get us relegated but you predicted a top 6 finish.
Do you not remember ootdoor the Funster posting that GUNBOAT seem's to be the only ain that smells danger but he is being hammered by his fellow Arabs?,now that is a FACT with a capital F.

One Scottish Cup final in 50+ years for the silly wee team in which they didn't manage a shot on target and failed to sell thousands of tickets leaving large sections empty on TV... Odd as I'd always heard of a sleeping giant in the city.....
