Bournemouth is near Porton Down (lol BT) and Russians are attracted to the area, quick trips to Brittany, London, houses in Sandbanks with Harry Redknapp, expensive houses they can buy up. Nice weather, they colonised Nice for similar reasons even having the only Russian Cathedral outside Russia. Now I wonder if the Russians want their money back if we kick him out.

Maxim Victorovich Demin is a mystery man and was born in October 1969. The Russian has two homes in the UK – one in Weybridge, Surrey and another in Sandbanks. He bought a house in the Sandbanks area valued at £5million two years after buying a 50 per cent stake in the club during the 2010/11 season.

He in fact paid £10million in total as he had the house already there knocked down before building a new one. That is roughly the same amount that he has invested in Bournemouth. Demin became co-owner of then Football League side A.F.C. Bournemouth with Eddie Mitchell, reportedly paying £850,000 for his share of the club. Mitchell then built his house.

He also has a house in Switzerland, where he currently resides.

His wife, Irena Demin, famously gave Bournemouth a half-time team talk in 2012. Bournemouth were 1-0 down to MK Dons when they were playing in League One so she decided to have her say. They eventually drew 2-2.

    What is his business background?
It is believed that Demin owns at least two companies in the UK, Wintel – a petrochemical company - and Wintel Holdings Ltd both based in Surrey.
Both companies were set up in 2005 and his petrochemicals company is described as dealing with the sales of fuels, ores, metals and industrial chemicals. The company’s current assets are valued at over £100 million.

Beyond that, his business background remains a mystery…
So you want a mystery man. Bournemouth came 12th last year. I’ll stick with those I know who got us 7th.

Not really OC,.....Been quite good,..But can Hart play up front,...if not only another 2 England keepers to go , and we have the full set.
Sorry but yes maybe I"ve been a little hasty, in my opinions ,...But it is still a message board, to vent our frustrations, like it or not!!!
And in my opinion we are being left behind., Not just the top six, but the bottom six also.

I was referring to BT Jon though I didn’t make it clear. Your views are valid can only think BT must have blown a gasket.

If you get the chance blueheeler1 visit Barnfield. Our future is laid out right before you and that's what I base my optimism on.

The youth recruitment policy is starting to kick in and our first eleven looks pretty OK to me!

I love Sean Dyche I really do, but our club cannot build it's future on just one man and I don't think they will!

I know personally several of our Board members, trust me, they are not idiots!

Altobelli particularly singles Mike Garlick out for dog's abuse, but I would happily settle for a true Claret than some distant moneybags who usually turns out to be either morally or financially bankrupt.
BT. I perfectly understand the road forward being developing our youth.

But there are always concerns with this tactic.

    1. If we develop some good players they will be off to bigger clubs before we gain from their playing ability. That happened to one of our players a few years ago who at around 15 went to Man Utd and didn't want to come back! So the value of spending time and effort on youth players and bringing them along can result in nothing more than a quick financial return. And we don't get enough money from selling kids to make a financial windfall so this point is a major concern in that it does nothing for Burnley FC chance of surviving in the Prem.

    2. It takes time to develop youth. Do we have this time right now? That point has been expressed on this Board several times already and I would say that the Prem is getting harder to survive in if it is judged by other clubs' spend on transfers pre season.

We have the smallest squad ever at the moment. We can't survive injuries to key players. Before this Prem League season has even started we have several injury concerns already. Where are the plugs that you speak of?

I am amazed that we still have several players still on our books. I would nominate Walters, Wells and to a lesser extent Westwood among them. We have two top Goalies injured pre season. And all this is with a small sqaud (and diminishing e.g. Mee?)

If you have this rapport with some of the Directors I am sure that some of our concerns have already been expressed and yet nothing seems to have happened.

Garlick, has a chance,....Which may never come this way again,...To have our team Gracing the EPL,...AND the odd forray in Europe,..maybe a cup?.....But All We Get is "HO HO HO,.. HOW MUCH ...HO HO HO..

Little old Burnley earn the right to play European football again after 51 years.

Little old Burnley finished last season seventh in the EPL.

Little old Burnley breeze into the next round of the Europa League.

Little old Burnley will soon have three fully capped England goalkeepers on their books.

Little old Burnley's most successful manager for fifty years constantly reminds the footballing world how difficult it is to swim with the sharks in the world's richest league.

Little old Burnley have a large percentage of fans who IMHO fail to grasp the reality and fcuking miracle Mike Garlick has produced during his tenure as Chairman and driving force behind my favourite football club in the whole wide world.

Little old Burnley have bided their time, played the game and it now looks likely Hart, Gibson and Clucas will arrive and possibly Jay Rodriguez and the best you can come up with is:

Garlick, has a chance,....Which may never come this way again,...To have our team Gracing the EPL,...AND the odd forray in Europe,..maybe a cup?.....But All We Get is "HO HO HO,.. HOW MUCH ...HO HO HO..

My two year old grandson and his playmates at the nursery have a better grasp on the reality of competing in a fair and proper manner in what is probably the most globe's most difficult league.

Much as it pains me to say it, I have to agree with BT. We are where we are not due to throwing money at it, not due to an astute chairman or directors, but simply because we got lucky with the choice of manager. When he goes, we will go back down to our natural level in the Championship within a season or two, that's our long term future.

I don't see the point of outside investment, there is no one out there who will invest enough in BFC to enable us to compete with the top six, or even most of the rest of the PL, there is no one who will invest enough to guarantee that we won't be relegated. I'd prefer that the club stays with the current ownership situation, which has not stopped the club progressing to 7th in the PL, and hope that Dyche stays for a long while yet. I can see the attraction of outside investment, of course I can, but it does not guarantee success, it does not even guarantee survival at this level, and it carries huge risks, not ones I think are worth taking.

Our directors deserve credit for the way they have grown the club, made us financially sound, found and backed two of only 4 English managers now in the PL, grown the squad value from £25m in 2013-4 to £141m today, developed us into a club with 12 internationals and provided 6 recent England ones, created UFCB in Burnley and now Wembley and Maine Rd, created BFC in the Community an award winning project that benefits the town and Barnfield the latest idea to help us survive. Their business plans have been done with the managers generating positive energy, the only folk who seem to have doubts are the fans.
If we had a foreign investor the directors would be stooges of the owner, there wouldn’t be a manager but a coach who does as he is told. The motive would be shareholder profits, the owner might send his wife down at half time to talk to the players.
I know which model I prefer.

OC, all good stuff and no arguments on the face of it.

But--"made us financial sound". What does that mean?

Financially sound to do what? Pay the wage bill? The ground maintenance?

Obviously not financially sound enough to pay transfer fee and wages.

And we can only judge on what has not happened so far. I hope I eat my words on this I really do.

Forget your emotive words about an investor turning managers into stooges and doing as they are told.

The telling point was what you said immediately after. "The motive would be shareholder profits". So the Backer would be seeking greater success in order to raise the share-price!

    And that's a negative comment?

All the talk about Burnley being too small to attract investment is probably true and is an ancor to ambition in this regard.

    But is Blackburn so huge?

Let the Investor decide if Burnley is too small. That's not our problem.

The problem may be that we are not seeking or encouraging investment.

And all this talk about "good financial models" is totally meaningless if a very good manager leaves because he is financially hamstrung.

If he doesn't buy into this "model" because he knows the outcome of this "model" then its all just talk and pats all round whilst waiting for Godo.

    Financially sound.
I’m sure you are pulling my leg. You can’t live in Clitheroe without knowing you are financially sound. The IMF explains it here
    https://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft.../pdf/fsiFT.pdf

    My summary of 302 pages.
Income exceeds expenditure, there is capital to cover a rainy day, the company is run prudently ... but there’s lots more.
Raising the share price is usually only a director owner benefit, few supporters get a look in.

If the club needed to raise money I’d rather they did it from supporters and the town than get the begging bowl out. I asked a while ago what is the goal for us getting a mogul on board. I haven’t had an answer yet - staying 7th ? That’s as much as we could be expected to achieve. Look what outside investment did for Blackburn - wonderful for Burnley fans.
