Re the cyclist v driver debate.

As a (now former) cyclist I was knocked down twice by drivers who failed to even look before puling out at junctions. Wouldn't have minded but I was lit up like a bloody Christmas tree on both occasions. Quick mention for the w@nkers who used to open their car doors when parking up in areas of heavy traffic without looking too, fkng pricks.

I also had countless lucky escapes when articulated lorries swerved their trailers across my path when pulling in front of me and when bus drivers stopped dead in their tracks. Don't get me started on taxi drivers and those in police cars, the latter being quite literally a law unto themselves at times. As for parcel delivery drivers....... I'll leave it there Chris' .

Conversely it angers me when I see cyclists cutting each other up in front of cars and lorries, going through red lights, bumping up and down kerbs with no regard for other road users or pedestrians, and generally being dicks. Stay on the road or get off the road, other than cycle lanes (on and off road) there should be no middle ground. Either way there are inconsiderate cretins on both sides of the divide.

Personally reserve an intense dislike for pedestrians who look like extras from a zombie apocalypse movie as they step into the road without looking. Especially the dopey brain dead fkrs that are too busy reading their mobile phone screens to look up. May a festering pox of boils infest your reproductive organs for eternity you stupid, inconsiderate b@st@rds.

I think there’s a Pervy nature to many cyclists and that they enjoy parading around with their private parts effectively on display and wrapped in nothing more than cling film.

You watch how many cyclists just happen to be passing schools at kicking out time!

If I walked past dressed like that I’d be arrested.

    Very suspect behaviour.

You may have something there Mick (I never wore Lycra or hang around schools by the way). Even worse than hanging around places known for promiscuous behaviour with a cam 'corder, cock in hand, while taxi drivers gobble each other off. Very suspect behaviour .

I don't carry a camera whilst out running,i can barely carry my own body.

Cyclists are a strange breed,at school they were the nerdy types who spent their lunch hours in the darkroom with our pervy science teacher "developing" photos.

    Taking photos more like!

Cyclists are also the same people that tend to belong to their local badminton club with their wives.

A slightly sad bunch who's wives don't like to let them out of their site in the mistaken assumption another woman will steal their man away.

The standard of driving is appalling and to my mind, the blame for the hostility between car/van drivers lies squarely with those on four wheels, many of whom have probably never ridden a bicycle. I have been riding along roads, usually alone, so not ‘obstructing’ people who can’t be delayed for more than two seconds, and been sworn at, been spat at and had things thrown at me. Add to that the idiots that either don’t look or don’t care and pull out across ones path. So, to those who think that cyclists are a menace, I say take off your blinkers, use some common sense and get out on a bike and see for yourselves how many @rseholes there are behind steering wheels.
I've never spotted car or van drivers passing through red lights regardless of what is around. Nor do they suddenly mount pavements whilst travelling at speed like cyclists often do. They also turn left out of side roads without giving a thought to stopping. Without a doubt the worst of all road users by a long shot.

Can't be worse than BMW and German car drivers.

Undoubtedly the worst car drivers are those in Range Rovers and BMW X5s. Especially those with ‘ego’ plates to advertise how much money they have to waste.

Chris you talk about cyclists being the only road users to mount the pavement, well delivery drivers are the worst for driving on the footpath but many car drivers do so as well. Point out the error of their ways and you get a load of abuse in return. Generally, cyclists are the most polite of all road users.

Hey this is an interesting thread/subject Soul, and as a 100% car driver myself, I'll be honest and say Ive got little or no time for motorbikers and/or cyclists. These people are a law unto themselves and they often take ridiculous risks just because they know they 'can'.
Ive lost count of the times when Im walking on the pavement and an ignorant cyclist whizzes past me and I have to step aside, they really dont seem to care about rules etc. Why do they and why are they allowed to ride on the pavement ?.
