So plastic is going to go in the black bin and a new bin with a pink lid for general waste, trust Rotherham Council to make it as complicated as possible.

Green bin should be for garden waste and a blue one for plastic like other councils do.

So 4 bins in 4 different colours. Each to take a different type of waste. The human race has come a long way but, seriously, I think this is a step too far.

And electrical items, batteries and lightbulbs can't go in any of them and have to be taken to the waste recycling centre.

Rotherham Council have done this in a really stupid way (which is no surprise) changing what two of the bins are for, great for confusing old people.

And neither are the bin colours consistent with neighbouring councils, where the colours mean something different

Plus if you look at it logically, red for danger, red for waste that can’t be easily recycled. So for some inexplicable reason Rotherham chooses pink.

Doncaster have black bin for rubbish, green for garden waste, blue for recycling and a green box for glass and jars.

All Rotherham Council had to do was bring in a new blue bin and leave the others the same.

Seems to be run by incompetents in all departments.

Apparently there was a vote for the pink bin? Why it was needed, like GF said we should have matched colours of neighbouring council, makes it easier for those living on the borders.

People from Rothrrham dont live in Doncaster. How can we possibly be confused by their bin system?

Their's is not the one that's confusing.

We've had a black bin for general waste turn into one for glass and plastic.

A green bin for garden waste becomes a bin for paper and cardboard.

The a new brown bin comes in for garden waste (but only if you pay extra)

And now a new bin with a pink lid for general waste.

It could have been handled a lot better, and easier.

It confused my neighbours, they lived just over a mile down the road in Elsecar. So moved from Barnsley to Rotherham and kept getting the bins wrong.

BTW if you live in Rotherham you might notice that the paper and card bin and the glass/ tins and plastics bin get emptied at the same time and go in the same bin lorry.
