    and the players sign on fee,
    getting a player on a free transfer, does save on the club fee, but I would suspect the other fees go up as a result, thats one of the reasons hold out until the end of their contract knowing they can get a better sign on fee and wages, as the new club has saved money on the transfer fee.

    It's not surprising he's failed a medical if he's injured and not available to play for a few months.

    It may depend on how serious it is and the chance of recovery.

    Ipswich were obviously not very optimistic. We need somebody else for the start of the season anyway, whether we sign Grant Ward or not
