Thought that was what Millwall fans sang when visiting the Vallley in response to Charlton's run-out tune. Can't remember it being sung at Millmoor, and no idea what Halifax had to do with it all

None really, the Watford manager at the time liked it so they played it. Watford went on a long unbeaten run after playing it so it was kept on as a good luck thing.

They are dropping it though and will use I’m still standing by Elton John

But that doesn't explain why Everton FC actually adopted the theme as their anthem. It is interesting to note that even amongst lifelong Evertonians and supporter groups there is even to this day no agreement of how or even when it was first played. One theory was that it was played as a tribute when the Z Cars cast attended a match. Others put forward other theories. The only thing that is beyond dispute is that the official anthem of Sheffield Wednesday FC should be "Pigs on the Wing".

Wasn't Z cars set in "Newtown" which supposed to be based on Liverpool, although I don't think many (any?) of the main characters (or even the criminals) had Scouse accents . Rather strange! Probably didn't do Scouse accents at RADA in those days

No, it was as great-fire pointed out earlier, based on and in Kirkby, originally a Lancashire town in it's own right that then began to develop as an overspill for Liverpool. Of the original cast, Colin Welland was a scouser. The reason the other leading cast members did not have Liverpuddlian accents is that they played characters originating from Belfast (James Ellis), a Scot (Joseph Brady) and a Yorkshireman (Mexbrough's Brian Blessed).

Based on Kirkby but not filmed there, most filming was in Manchester and Hemel Hempstead

The cars for the “dashboard” scenes were fakes on a set with no glass in the windscreens to prevent reflection problems.

On the exterior full police car shots the cars were painted yellow to give good contrast because the program was broadcast in black and white.

The theme tune btw wasn’t original, it was an adaptation of a folk song.

I think the 'Suck Mi Nob' song is due a revival!

Yeah, B&Q could use it in an advert.

That's right: "Johnny Todd" or "Johnny Cobb"

If those are the right words (for us)

    Before Sheffield United nicked it.
Yes we did but as ever Sheffield takes over they've even nicked Woodys song
