Had some great nights in there when the pool was covered and it transformed into the Twist Club. I once went into the bogs and saw Gene Vincent getting changed for his act - great days

Me too Patty, when you look at it you wouldn't believe the ambience the place had on Sunday nights, and all they had for effect was a large mirror ball . It did help that you could stagger out out of 1 of 7 pubs and back to the dancing without walking more than 100 yds .Happy days alright

Ah... Langold Lake. My mum and dad used to take us there for picnics when I was a mere nipper. I couldn't even swim at that time but used to gaze in wonderment at the nutters diving off the top platform. I had actually forgot about that until your post.

The new baths were, I think, 9ft deep in the deep end, so jumping off the top block you didn't make the bottom, although we did swim down to retrieve a rubber brick.

A few mates and me used to go to the sauna at the new baths before matches, because it was "healthy". In and out of the sauna and shower, a read of the paper lying on a bed, whilst scoffing a bacon sarnie. Even with the sarnie you could lose half a stone by the end of the session - and put it back on in the pub before the game

That is brilliant, Lincs, thank you! All well here; I’ll try and drop you a line if I get a chance.
