I would hope we would keep him until January 2021, by which time he’d hopefully be a proven Premier league scorer with us, and a regular Scottish international.
Then he’d surely be worth twice the transfer fee he would this January.

Even if a fee was a agreed in January I’m sure it wld be on the pretence that he is loaned back to us until the end of season. After all It’s nt the snake at the head of these negotiations.
Now, if he gets a game for Scotland and scores not only will the fee for him increase bt it will nt only be the ugly west coast sisters that are Interested.
Genuinely don't know , but , does this mean when Scotland are playing and he is with the squad and the premier league has a free week due to an international break our league still has fixtures?
Will he miss really important games for united when he is with the national team just so SC can "have a look at him" ?
I know we can win games without him but would hate to think we might miss out on him playing for us against title rivals and maybe not even getting on the pitch for Scotland :/
The club need to be clear that there will be no discussing anything like this until end of season at earliest, we only just got him and he is going nowhere in January, by which point he has 2.5 years with us.
Agree Shedka . If his goals help get us promoted. Then I for one would have no qualms regarding him being sold at the end of the season. It's a win win for player and club.
I would be rather phissed off if he was away in January. Which would be Jan 2015 all over again.
Absolutely. And I don't think there is any chance of him not being with us for at least THIS season.
Hopefully the season after too. At least the Jan 2022 window when he still has 18 months on his contract.
If he keeps doing the business until then, that's when we can expect some serious bids.
For now, I'm just delighted he's playing for us.
It's a bit like the ARob situation. We knew he was obviously going to move at some point, and we just had to enjoy his play while he was here. But hopefully, we'll get a bit longer with Shanks in the team than we did with ARob.
So, nothing to see here really. He ain't going nowhere soon. And we are not a one player team.

Sorry, I meant Jan 2021.
