We were playing Birmingham city tonight.... Plod were VERY conspicuous up in there absence. Not even a line of them across the street opposite the shop where the Cannabis can be smelled. Strange.

The pre match pep talk will have no doubt sent PC 3139 onto the streets for Saturday's match with an over zealous attitude and an agenda. I've been the victim of it myself as a 16 year old although fortunately not struck on the head with a life threatening blow.
Once at Molineux back in the mid 90s I was hand cuffed, arrested and put in a cell for simply being 1st off the bus along with the 2nd guy to walk off the bus and the 3rd and 4th and 5th. Of course the arresting officer in his haste and thirst for conquest was totally unaware that I was a minor.
When it came to charging me for being 'drunk and disorderly' I was kept behind at Wolverhampton nick while 9pm because I needed a duty solicitor to witness my being charged and sign it off because I was only 16. Obviously being released at that time made getting back to Barnsley a big problem, especially as I didn't have any money. The other guys who were also arrested that day for no particular reason were charged and released around 6pm and made their way back but me being held obviously put paid to me possibly getting any help from those guys so I was stuck.
Fortunately a police lady saw and heard my predicament and made every effort to contact my mother which she eventually managed as nobody was in to answer the phone in our house. My mother called in a favour off one of her friends and came down to pick me up in a Robin Reliant of all vehicles! We got back after midnight but this farce should've been totally avoided if the police did their job properly.
Dont get me wrong, we'd all had a drink on that bus, some more than others! I wasn't the worse for wear as getting served wasn't easy as a 16 year old. They basically hand picked our bus and kept the arrest statistics up by nicking the first 5 people off irrespective of whether they were drunk or not. Funny thing is that after I and the other blowks were hand cuffed, me nearly in tears, the nutcases to the rear of our bus were topless with beer towels over their heads singing at the top of their voice. Obviously they were model upstanding citizens who the Police thought weren't bevvied up and not worth arresting!![]()
It did rankle however, although I'd never wish on a fellow Red be arrested, the injustice of it all was so frustrating and annoying, especially as I was a virgin to all this being locked up malarkey. The police that day obviously had an agenda and an arrest target of which I, along with 4 or 5 others were victims.

Good 'un Pass. Enjoyed reading that. Nardays thad gerra Criminal Record showing up when applying forra job and all because a bobby wanted to keep target figures in line.
A witnessed a similar thing in the car park at Glandford Park, S****horpe. A group of lads arrived in a mini-bus and were chanting "Barns er leee, Barns er lee, Barns er lee" as they got off the bus A group of bobbies rushed up and demanded their names. All replied "Neil Bullivant",who I think was Regional Bobby Football Coordinator at the time. They were all marched to a Bobby Van and driven away.
