I meant it would be a death knell for my enthusiasm for footy Grist. If the door to the top level, and the little chance we have of getting there anyway is closed off, I don'y think I'd see football in the same light and don't think I'd follow it any more.

If a breakaway European super league did happen, and it has been bandied about for a few years now, it would be interesting to see what format could be put in place for the rest of us?
Maybe we could amalgamate all the England, Scotland, Wales and Ireland teams in some way (just a thought) because as has already been mentioned that the TV money wouldn't be the same without the big prem teams in it.

The game is much bigger than the top six sides.

It couldn't happen because the 4 nation internationally would have to become 1

Anyone who has read the Rotherham Town story in the Advertiser this weekend will have noted the real spirit of football. They banded together for the love of the game. Their matches were no less competitive than today, and not a tv deal anywhere.
Somewhere along the line since 1992, we've lost the real spirit of the sport. If the only thing holding the thing together is handouts from self interested teams, then we're on the road to hell anyway.

Ok frog, so couldn't we have our very own UK/EUROPEAN CUP competition?

Nowt wrong with 11 local lads playing for nowt on Herringthorpe in the middle of winter buddy, although every team I played for you had to pay some sort of subs to play.
You think john 2 has outed me to you but dont take any notice of what he says because he knows nothing about football and should stick to politics.
