    I'd not actually got the 'Lionel' connection until the explanation was given - so your skills quite passed me by this time, CAM!

    It was the reference to an ambassador for the World Cup that gave me the clue tp Terry. I'd vaguely remembered his connection to the South Africa tournament. That then matched up to one or two other clues like the domestic honours and goals scored which I was able to look up.

    (I'd just seen that there were some references to obscure actors and dancers called "Paine" and thought, well, that'll do!)
