    1. Nationwide curfew until May between 2300 and 0600 except to go to work, shop for medicines or care help

    2. National register to be kept of all people who refuse to be vaccinated. Document not to be made public but will be shared with other EU countries
Good idea to keep a record of the unwashed.

Stupid idea, making a list of those that elect not to receive the vaccine.

Think about it for a moment. Would it be more sensible to keep a record of all those that do have the vaccine.

This would serve two purposes, the first being the most significant.

    1. It would reduce the risk of an unknown not being included on the list, because whether they decline the vaccine or they simply go under the radar they will not show as having had it. Simply put if there is no record of a person then they will not appear on the list. A small chance but there are enough illegals etc. everywhere so I’d out they will be rushing to get a vaccination.

    2. Should there be a life threatening, life changing or other serious unforeseen effect to the vaccine (unlikely as that is), then there would be a list of those who have had the vaccine to back up their personal medical record.

And is it not possible to catch COVID between 2300 and 0600. I have not read of any scientific research that says COVID 19 sleeps during the night time.

No wonder the world is in a right old mess.

Clearly they know it isn’t different at night. I would guess it’s an approach to stop nightclub type culture and curb the insensible. I assume that folk in late ****s, early 20s are pretty big spreaders if left without rules.

I think you are right. My earlier post of the British backpackers in Australia shows the disregard many have for the welfare of others, particularly when you are a guest in that country. But I have never understood why the UK told pubs to close at 10pm, not just once but at least twice. Surely there is as much opportunity for people to spread the virus prior to 10pm. What the hell is that all about.

You make some good points BMG but in reality it’s much easier to control a population of 8 people, 75 sheep and 50 chickens rather than the 67 million in the rest of the U.K.

I can see the sense in that. If you go out for a drink with a meal in a controlled setting that's much safer than drinking all night after 10 and losing any sense of self control because of drinking too much. We have a lousy drink culture in this country. Common sense. Any sense of social distancing goes out of the window when you are drunk or close to it.

The virus puts a portion of people who get it into intensive care and seriously ill. There are only so many ICU beds, ventilators, nurses and doctors. Double or triple the amount in ICU and people who need treatment don't get treated. Nurses and doctors get redistributed to tackle the need and then others have delayed treatment. That minor injury/illness that gets low prioritisation then becomes a bigger problem.

In a nutshell, you having your own decision takes someone else's away from them. If half the country decide to make their own minds up, the other half suffer the consequences by not having the treatment they deserve. This isn't a 1% situation.

What annoys me is that we've had this virus now for nearly a year, but people still can't be arsed to get the point.

To answer Mick's question, I would have the vaccine. It really should be mandated and I know people hate this type of thing but those who don't follow the medical advice and don't have the vaccine are removing the right to effective healthcare of those who do choose to have it.
Good post and some well made points. I know of a couple of people aged in their late 80’s who have had it and are in full recovery. Someone else I know of who exercised pretty full out 5 times a week and was a very youthful 64 with no health issues died within 10 days of catching it. You just can’t predict who is and isn’t a potential casualty so let’s just respect the rules eh?

    It’s a 1 for me
