I do a cracking crab cake mate. I’ll give you the recipe one day.

Always well received when I do it as a starter.

Personally, we were looking to stay once again at Ravens Hall Hotel. A splendid old stately castle like establishment. Pomp and grandeur and you pay for what you get. Good food and wine and the service is really friendly and warm. Nice big open frieplace to sit around which the owners encourage you to top up with coal and logs. Nice with a large brandy after a meal.

Alas as we were tier 3 we never pursued it, wish we had now reading your post....bloody jealous really
    Thanks mate.

Can’t take it with you so enjoy it.

Hope you’ve had a good un. Take good care.

All I'm reading here is a green eyed monster, from more than one of you.

I know Scum personally and there is no way he would put anyone in harms way. One of the nicest men I have ever had the pleasure to meet and his good lady. Have another sherry and sleep it off.
    Thank you.

Just finishing off a 12 year old malt (Old Pultney)

Hoping to stay awake for motd.

It’s copied from bbc good good. I serve with sweet chilli sauce instead of Mayo. I don’t bother with capers and add a couple of fresh red chillis.

    250g potatoes , diced
    300g white crabmeat
1 tbsp capers , drained and finely chopped
2 spring onions , finely chopped
zest and juice 1 lemon , plus extra wedges to serve
small bunch dill , finely chopped
    4 tbsp good-quality mayonnaise
    2 tbsp plain flour
    1 egg , lightly beaten
    85g dried breadcrumbs
sunflower oil , for shallow frying
    Method
    STEP 1
Boil the potatoes in a large pan of salted water for about 15 mins, drain, then return to the pan and leave to steam dry for about 5 mins. Mash, then leave to cool.
    STEP 2
In a large bowl mix the crabmeat, capers, spring onions, lemon zest and half the juice with half the dill. Stir in the mashed potato with some seasoning, then shape into 12 neat round patties. Transfer these to a plate and put in the fridge for 20 mins to firm up.
    STEP 3
To make the dill mayonnaise, mix the mayo with the remaining lemon juice and dill. Put this in the fridge for later.
    STEP 4
Put the flour, egg and breadcrumbs on 3 separate plates. Dust the crab cakes all over with the flour, then dip into the egg and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
    STEP 5
Add enough sunflower oil to a shallow frying pan to come about 1cm up the side. Heat the oil, then carefully slide the crab cakes in; you might have to do this in batches. Cook for about 3 mins on each side until they are crisp and golden. Drain on kitchen paper. At this point you can pop the crab cakes into the oven to keep warm – or serve right away with dill mayonnaise and extra lemon wedges.

Sounds stunning, can't wait to knock a few up. I do like my capers though....

Given the Scarborough area is higher risk than Rotherham, I'd be happier if he had a test before coming back!

Fair point and I also thought of that but knowing the man and his Wife and booking a safe cottage I fully trust he's safe and brought home no harm to no one.

I'm sure his sycophantic friends were equally blasé about Dominic Cumming's trip to a "safe" cottage.
