While Jimmy Anderson aka the Burnley Express was demolishing the Indian middle order last Tuesday at Chennai to help England to a notable Test victory later that same day a makeshift Burnley Eleven that barely seemed to know each other were making an ignominious exit at home in the FA Cup to Championship side Bournemouth. One up for Burnley at cricket, one down at football. On Saturday the Clarets travel to London to play Crystal Palace and if any excuse is to be made for that sorry Cup performance they will need to bring back at least a share of the spoils from Selhurst Park. Crystal Palace were our opponents at the Turf in November when an early Chris Wood goal gave us our first PL win of the season. If fit Wood will probably be recalled to the starting line up on Saturday and may be joined by Brownhill. Taylor is unlikely to be risked so Pieters (if eligible!!!) will fill in at left back. The Eagles will be sweating on the fitness of their talisman Zaha. Without him they do not carry a fraction of the threat they pose when he is in the team. Eze has adapted quickly to life in the Premiership and could be a danger especially in combination with Zaha. Former Claret Gary Cahill is likely to feature in central defence for Roy Hodgson’s side. Completing the double over Palace would give us all a huge boost this weekend. So without further ado COYC!
