I ended up on supplementary benefit and had the ignominy of somebody calling at my house quizzing me why I wasn’t working. I felt like physically throwing him out. Before that I had done the following builders labourer, worked in a power station, clerk in an insurance company, selling coffee and shoes at Rackhams, fitting suspended ceilings, marker in a bookies, worked on a Kibbutz, lifeguard, worked in a brewery (Cape Hill) and probably some more.

I also am an avid reader.
Where were you on a kibbutz Q, I spent an interesting time during the first gulf war on Kibbutz Yad Hannah, which was in the narrow strip of Israel right up on the West Bank town of Tulkarm’s border.

My dad wrote a biography many years ago about a music hall star, bit of a niche market but would be great to try and get it into some form of publication, if only for the family’s benefit.
It really is very easy! Go to Amazon and follow the instructions. They give templates and all the advice necessary. Best bit is it's free although you will probably want to spend some money on getting a decent cover. A friend does mine so I'm lucky.

Mizra situated between Afula and Nazareth. Had a great time there in 1975. Saw much evidence of the Yom Kippur war. I remember when we drove onto the Golan Heights I jumped off the lorry and saw something unusual. It was a rifle shell and they were everywhere.

It’s an amazing county just such a shame the people of the region can’t get on, would make a brilliant holiday destination, I loved Jerusalem and the Red Sea at Eilat is amazing. Would have been a brave new world when you went!

I've signed on a few times. Didn't enjoy those experiences and hated going into the place. Yet if you've paid into a system there shouldn't be a stigma attached to reaching out for help if it's required.

I dearly wish those times had never occurred but they did. That's the way it goes, those times really hurt me yet didn't and don't make me feckless or define me as a person.

Ce la vie (or however it goes).
