You never want to draw newly promoted teams first up. They are always hyped up for the first encounter!

Brentford and a good side and well run club. Had a clear pattern of play and fully deserved to win. really pleased how little VAR used and no silly cards for minimal contact.

Wonder if Arteta is living on borrowed time as they looked pretty hapless at times. Ben White could be in for a busy season at the back.

Thomas Frank is prone to the odd silly comment but that is part of football and Brentford has not been a happy hunting ground for us.

Arsenal didn't play that poorly. They managed to get past Brentford's defence quite a few times. Just couldn't get the final pass or shot wide/high (poor finishing). Arsenal needed Lacazette and aubamayang. By the way, where were they? Have they left?

No sympathy for Arsenal, but Pontus was clearly Holding (this would’ve worked better had he been on the pitch) the batsman’s Willy.

    Or something like that.

Arteta needs a miracle signing to keep his job.
    All disrespecting twots aren't we

For a team of Arsenal’s stature think they played poorly - shaky at the back and lack of cutting edge up front. They make pretty patterns in midfield but that is what they are known for but pointless if you can’t score.

Thought they were poor overall and Brentford always had the beating of them - if Toney who played very well had a better first touch and close control could have been a bigger win.

We are not called Diry Leeds for nothing and that's how I like it.
What I don't like is been called a dirty old man! I'm still young and a shower once a month.

Was thinking something similar - maybe he wishes he’d stayed in the south coast
