This model avoids serious rebuke and penalties when it does fail and fall foul of EFL regs, so it aint all bad

He even sacked Warburton after achieving promotion because he didn't follow the model ! We can't and wont compete with that.
I think you will find that Benham wanted Mark Warburton to stay at the club and work under the new model they were doing, but Warburton felt he couldn't do that so him and the club parted company at the end of that season. He wasnt sacked, as you have said and actually got Brentford into the championship play offs in the season he left the club. UTM

Brentford have have done amazing, but it's not just them is it ?
In recent years we've had Reading, Bolton, Blackpool, Portsmouth, Barnsley, Bradford, Wigan etc,all play in the premier league..
Maybe we could make it one day.

All of those apart from Derby have debts they cannot pay.

Many of us who watched in the seventies would probably regard the last ten years as football heaven.
Nobody is touting us for relegation. That to me is progress.

They have done amazing business over the last 5 seasons ago selling players and spending the fee on young players and developing and selling back on 10 times they paid. I think they can't be far off reaching 100 million they made on profit by doing this and the one team that looks to be going in a similar direction atm is Barnsley. You need to be scouting players in other countries and play the type of football that can get the technique out of the players to sell them for big money the way we play with hoof over the midfield we will never go in the same direction.

The most compelling answer to a debate I have ever seen. I'm happy with the TS model of keeping the balance sheet positive and having a team we can cheer.

No idea why I wrote Derby. It was early. I meant Barnsley.
