Dave was a Holmesdale boot boy back in the day![]()
I lived at No 60 from 1967 until 1973 when I left for France. I spent a good few hours in the George. On one of my last visits to the area I saw that the pub no longer exists…like my favourite old watering hole The Thomas A’Beckett down the Old Kent Road..shame.
Went to France in 1973, you must have been a pioneer in them days. Are you in a town or small village?
I live in smallish town of 22000 habitants about 25k east of Paris. When the UK joined the Common Market in ‘73 it made moving to the continent and finding work a whole lot easier. I only wanted to try my luck for 6/12 months just to see what it was all about in France but I ended up meeting my wife and as we say the rest is history!
Dave and Frenchie will never have the class of "THE FISH"
Positive immigration.
Indeed Frenchie.
Until this pathetic country deported him on a Visa technicality.
Return to Pakistan
Ironically Nazir's fame alerted the UK's immigration services. Nazir had arrived in the United Kingdom[when?] on a student visa, but left his studies[where?] to work as a fishmonger.[7] In December 2012, under the government policy he was ordered to leave the country as his visa had expired.[8] He returned to Pakistan in December 2012. His management said he would return to the UK to promote his musical career with a new entry visa. His agent, Samir Ahmed, said: "He will be returning to Pakistan and will be celebrating New Year with his family. His return to the UK is pending approval of a working visa. We fully expect him to return in the coming weeks".[9] According to a 2016 article in the New Statesman, Nazir was declined a new visa to enter the UK because he violated the terms of his last visa by singing as a professional entertainer. A year after that he applied for another visa to try and appear in a film about his life, however it was also denied.[10]
