What makes you think they'll redevelop Oakwell if they owned it ?

Having bought a Championship ,debt free, club for £8 million it's no wonder they said at the opening Press Conference,"It's too good to be true". Now running the club without investing any of their own money they can sit and wait until the opportunity comes to sell at a vast profit whether they are in the Championship or not,
Their model relies on selling their best players as they approach the end of their contracts or with a year left on them. A lot of players will reach that point in the coming months. Rather than gradually building a club by retaining the best players and adding one or two of quality each year they will put profit before ambition. Compare with Brentford, whose owner Matthew Bentham has invested £50 odd million gradually over the years to build a successful club. Our lot think they can achieve promotion with no investment from themselves.
We do not know who might wish to buy. The problem is Conway will put a significant mark up on the price he got it for.

In no way do I want ANY owner to own all of the ground.

Patrick Crynes legacy was two fold:
    He saved the club.
He ensured that football would be played at Oakwell forever.
    We must HONOUR that.
And anyone who tries to unravel that has not got my support.

The ground is owned 50/50 by the Cryne family and Barnsley Council.
Both of whom are desperate to see the club succeed.
It’s up to these ground owners to give the football owners a reasonable long lease with a reduced rent - in the knowledge and understanding that the football club owners have to find millions to upgrade the ground.
    And then maintain it.

It’s not as tho we have 3 separate parties not wanting the best for Barnsley.
All 3 are wanting to move things forward.
Personally I would love to be involved in such discussions.
    Exciting times ahead.

redevelopment would bring a few things more investment more fans tempt better players to sign show intent to fans that there here to make the team and ground a better place.

why would the owners invest in the ground apart from a lick of paint every other year, you wouldn't build yaself an extension on ya council house.

We can’t fill the stands we already have so it’s not essential to the business as long as maintaining safety standards doesn’t become costly.

West stand is an eyesore in modern terms but it’s not critical to remove it in my opinion.

Should there ever be another possibility of premiership football then a new stand would be helpful in terms of capacity and revenue.

Like many others I think last season was a fluke in terms of the playoffs and I don’t expect a repeat any time soon.

so if the crynes/council own 50% each. They should be held 50% each responsible for any upgrades..... if my house needs new windows. Would my landlord pay or me.??? Exactly!

I haven't seen a scrap of evidence that the consortium have thus far invested one single penny of their own funds into the club they own whether that be on the field or commercially .

So why I personally should believe just because they own the stadium they would improve it is beyond me when no such appetite exists for investing in to the club from their own funds .

I may have trusted them to own the stadium and surrounding land if they'd acted in a positive manner at OGC Nice instead of saddling them with a high interest loan whilst they sold off their best players .

Unfortunately that trust doesn't exist for me .

Well as one of the lowest budget clubs in the championship I think it would be a good idea to keep what budget we have on the field in this day and age personally .
