It’s the elite you really do plunder the system! Plumber goes bankrupt they come after the little man and take his house. Huge limited companies like Jamie Oliver Restaurants go bust and write off millions in creditor debts but hey - Jamie’s other limited company is raking in thousands every second. How can that be right?

Don’t get me going on the elite backhanders which includes MP’S and Royals!! Little guy has to even record a box of chocs from a supplier!

It is absolutely where we differ.

Because some of these people at the bottom genuinely need this money.

All of the elite who are abusing the system don't need the extra income.

That's why they're not equally culpable in my view.

There are no poor people running the country. I don’t think that there are any poor people running any country. Even in poor countries, corruption is usually so rife that the ruling class pocket the wealth and leave the rest to do what they will. Laws are therefore made by the wealthy and inevitably those laws protect the interests of those that drew them up. I suspect, though, that this country is one of the fairest and that is not denying that there are very large inequalities in society. Nobody as far as I know has yet created utopia. Despite the unpopularity of MP’s, there are many in all parties that have a genuine concern for their constituents and society as a whole; they just never make it into the important decision making positions.

I agree many are genuine so you can’t tar everyone with the same brush. Personally I would increase the minimum wage and change the benefit system so claimants get something like a petrol card so food can be purchased excluding alcohol and cigs and bills can be paid directly to those firms,

The elite who are abusing the system don’t need the money but the ones who are loaded are more desperate for even more money than many without who just want to enjoy life. Bit like
saying Mike Ashley, Alan Sugar and David Beckham don’t want even more millions - that’s what drives the greedy t wats!!

I know a lady who has a great job in London - commutes two hours to get there - stays in a flat four nights a week by herself. Good for her but sadly she does not see her young children growing up - at school and the other joys of family life. Everyone to there own but many people on 30K are far happier than some on 300K - that’s a fact. Depends though what floats your boat!

For me it’s sickening each day seeing up to 1000 illegals enter the country draining the system. When will someone have the balls to send them all back to France? France must be laughing their heads off!!

Are they draining the system though? If they wanted to come here for benefits, then why not stay in France or Spain where they would have benefits that would be equal to what they would get here?

I think what Brexit is currently and will continue to teach us, is that we need immigrants. We need them to pick our fruit, drive our trucks and pick up our litter. If the people who arrive here fill the gap left by the Europeans, then it might marginally soften the blow of the disaster that is Brexit.

But from what I can see, this is quite a hostile place to come for an immigrant. They get nothing more than what they would for staying in Europe. So the reason they come here is probably because they can speak the language or they have family/friends here who can support them. I just don't see why they would risk their lives otherwise.

I’ve said numerous times there’s nothing wrong with immigration to fill our needs but we can’t go back to having the whole family to stay.

IF Australia accepted my daughter and husband to be residents they wouldn’t then let me and the wife and our parents to rock up.

Immigration yes.......gravy train for extended family as resounding “NO”.

I don’t agree we are “hostile” to immigrants either, I find most of them way better than U.K. people in whatever job they do and treat them accordingly.

They seem to understand good service and impeccable manners.

I can only speak for Spain where I lived for many years - it’s far more difficult there to get handouts than the U.K. This is one of the reasons why Brits who have businesses in Spain usually come back if they go bust!

I am all for skilled Labour as the best medical staff are usually immigrants and many strive to do well. My point though is anyone coming in illegally should be made to pay back any handouts when they are working - similar to a student loan. I would also insist that illegal immigrants to stay in the country should be found work ie fruit picking! Why are we flying over Romanians to do this work? Crazy!

I am for skilled immigrants and Afghans who have risked their lives to help our servicemen.

So in a nutshell - no such thing as a free lunch whatever your status or colour! Those who are elite who play the system should be hammered especially those who crash one limited company and have another in the background. High paid barristers get these elite individuals off the hook where the little man will lose everything!
