The role went to top male model and Frys TV ad man Lazenby. Billington was screen tested for the second time in 1969 but Connery was tempted back

Billington was finally given a role in the brilliant TSWLM for all of around 10mins before his character was shot dead on the ski slope apparently to stop him from ever being screen tested again.
Cheers for the info Phild-quite a range of actors considered werent there! Didn't Eastwood turn down the role because (quite rightly!) he thought it should be played by a British actor? Funny how two male models got the part as well (Roger was a knitwear model before he landed his role as the Saint).Wonder what Flemming would have thought of that! 😃 Maybe too much emphasis on how they looked in a tux..

I thought it was a decent Bond movie, the action pieces and the camera work were extraordinary, especially in the close up action scenes.

Malik is a very fine actor and made a great baddie.

I thought the black girl playing the 007 role was dreadful though, very “wooden” and the whole thing screamed “tokenism” to me.

If she’s to be the next 007 then I think the franchise is in serious trouble.

I can’t work out if “Bond” as a concept is dead and that they’re changing things to become the “007” franchise?

If Broccoli is going down the “PC” route I think this is a huge mistake.

Bond was written in a certain way by Flemming and there’s nothing wrong with him always being a man, I don’t get the equality angle with this.

If we carry on like this Harry Potter will be using “gender fluid” toilets and wearing a tutu........it’s just becoming nonsense.

The Bond as we know it Mick is now jed and buried. Flemings Bond is over that's why we got the ending that we did. James Bond based on the Fleming novels gave the reason to portray him as more or less as per the novel but the Fleming novels ended a long time ago so the new screen writers have had a very difficult time in portraying Bond as the womaniser of old due to todays attitudes.

So Bond is now free to be a he/she or whatever gender and will be a new reimagining based on the wokeist attitudes and ideals that now prevail so Bond as you and me knew him is now finished kaput and no more.

Well, if it does end up as you are predicting the answer is simple. Don't go and watch it!

This is my point though......how can it be “Bond” if there’s no James Bond?

    I think they’ve totally f u c k e d this up.

James Norton would be a great choice I think.

At 36 year old he’s the perfect fit other than not being black, gay or a woman or both!

Totally agree. If the traditional James Bond image is to continue, Norton is the perfect fit.

Maybe they should rename it Jamie Bond, that way a Jamie can be male and female (Jamie Lee Curtis).
I just think it’s ridiculous with this equality aim that we all get thrown at us, why can’t they leave it as is? How about Lara Croft? Will that be made male.. Larry Croft? Yeah I don’t think that works either.
Perhaps make Wonder Woman a man? 🤣
