Possibly not of interest for some but there is strong opinion for the now requirement of an Independent Regulator of Football in England going on behind the scenes.

Football clubs are not ordinary businesses. They play a critical social, civic, and cultural role in their local communities and they need to be protected.I joined the FSA [Football Supporters Association] to keep positive and productive by promoting Mental Health/Disability issues that create issues for said like football supporters who attend games and for those who cannot - which is rewarding and sometimes challenging but fun.
The Premier League’s decision to approve the PIF takeover has reopened the debate about who owns our football clubs. While Newcastle United fans are understandably ecstatic to see the back of Mike Ashley, many supporters throughout the game, including some Newcastle fans, have expressed concerns about the role of nation states in the ownership structures of clubs and the impact of their human rights violations.
Ultimately supporters have been put in an impossible position as billionaire owners pass clubs from one to another with no input from fans, meaning clubs at an elite level have become the playthings of individuals or regimes with shocking human rights records.
In essence in her interim report, Crouch is recommending the establishment of an independent regulator which will oversee a new club licensing system to improve the standard of ownership across the game.
Just for the record, in my opinion . Ordinary businesses DO play a critical social civic and cultural role in their local communities. Try seeing how a local community gets on without a local employer.
And they have to stand on their own 2 feet and run their business in spite of all the schitt that is going at the minute.
Yes I have a small business with no fu cker throwing money at it.
Q. 'Football clubs are not ordinary businesses. They play a critical social, civic, and cultural role in their local communities and they need to be protected'.
A. Foreign ownerships that far to often sadly dismiss clubs historic role function in their local communities was the gist.
NO intention to 'diss' the many independent businesses Billy - the opposite actually.
To buy/own a club should have a responsibility to its local community & invest into it - Some do but many don't.
Comment made was that some owners do not listen to fans & don't listen to local communities either and as such new legislation should make such situations not possible.

With the human rights issue regarding that murderous saudi prince who is behind it all any player with any morals would surely question whether they want to go their.
Then again if there is enough wedge been offered who gives a donald duck...seeing Newcastle take the knee will now be one of the most hypocritical sights in Football.
