I said at the beginning that our current squad buying in to the new owners vision was just as important as any new signings. Hearing that you are shiite and need replacing isn't a good bed fellow to getting the decent performances we need.

Then it's up to the present incumbents to prove that they are good enough for their place and it's others who need to go.

In other words, pull your finger out and show you can be good enough in both ability and attitude, or get on the bike and be made to drop a league or two to earn your wages.

    Exactly!

Check out N'Jolo Kante, he's gone from being Jokelinton to a freaking monster in the centre of the park, just wish he could do that in the No.9 position. However that lad as really kicked on under Howe which is extremely positively surprising indeed.

The Gauntlet has been thrown down and we are seeing which of our current squad are men and which of them (as we all pretty much) are mince.

it's encouraging to see big Joe prove me and many of us on here & across the whole fanbase that he has got the potential to be a top top player! 40mil... maybe not but certainly better a purchase then when Cabbage was ruining his career!

    N'JoLo Kante

IMHO, he was one of those that played better than most in that absolute horror show yesterday. Alas, yesterday was the one day that he could stake a claim as a striker and he just couldn't quite make it happen against opposition that we should be scoring against. He is no striker.

Assuming that EH manages to shift him back to the left half of the pitch (that he touched every blade of grass in versus Man U) and doesn't tinker with him, JoLo can help dig us out of this grave we're currently in. But forget it up front.

That gauntlet was thrown down ever since the new owners came. If it were me, I'd be fighting for my job and positioning myself as one of those that saved Newcastle so I could renegotiate my contract. Only JoLo has really noticeably improved; let's be honest and even though he slid backwards yesterday, he is trying.

Don't know what is in the head of so many others. But let's see what they can do in the Prem now they know where we sit comparatively in terms of quality in the Football League...

Goodness me. We’re supposed to be a professional, Premier league football club, not a social club.
Any player who might have his feelings hurt by being replaced by a new signing can f00k right off. Any player who isn’t up to fight for his place can also. Any player who isn’t excited at having the chance to be part of a better team with better players around them can also do one.
The atmosphere of amateurism installed by Bruce has been damaging but Howe is sorting it.

...thats the attitude we need to see and one that a true competitor has in spades, but we haven't seen much of it yet unfortunately.
