But if your board hired him based on what he achieved last season at Oakwell then they knew that .

Hey you lot, Ive looked on Wikipedia this weekend and read up a bit more on the big Valbowski lol.
Apparently he wanted to play for his home nation France of course, but was maybe never good enough. So he/Val then wanted to pull a few Intl strings and play for Germany instead (as you do!). And apparently on more than one occasion, they the Germans just basically turned him down and told him to fu*ck off, we don't want you, your not German enough to play for us etc!!.

Ok yeah it made me laugh, but it might not interest you Baggies if your a fan of him.

The worry for me is that we keep giving the referees the chance to send us off. Intelligent players make sure they can’t be the wrong side of a decision.

It is then down to opinions and I have to say I don’t agree only 2 of our sending offs were definite reds. The reality is they were sent off so whatever anyone thinks then it was a red card.

It is so easy just to keep saying referees are useless. Yes they make mistakes, big ones at times, of course they do. However, they are human beings and we all make them. Don’t give them the chance of making a bad decision because when they do, we have to accept it, all part of the game, or it should be anyway.

The problem is that Albion have a certain way of playing, it's always been our blueprint even when we were in the third division. Fans expect to see a bit of style, panache something a bit out of the ordinary, that has always been the attraction with Albion.
They won't tolerate turgid football, and Gary Megson only got away with it because it got us up.
Our owners bought him because what he did at Barnsley and they thought he could get us up without them having to spend money. Wilder was ready to join us for nothing, but Lai vetoed it and paid you two million for Val.
I haven't joined the Val out brigade yet, but the clock is ticking. We are nearer seventh place than the automatics now and he doesn't seem capable of changing his style or tactics.

What concerns me is that some of the cards that we receive are given when the offence is committed in an area of little or no danger. There are occasions when, as they say, 'you take one for the team', and I understand that, if conceding a goal is a strong possibility. I am not condoning foul play but all sides do it. This is why I think that it's down to the coach to drum into his players not to give silly fouls away in areas of little consequence. The players must also take some of the blame. It's all down to game management.

I agree with you we have given the referees the option by making silly tackles but the standard off officiating in this league has been awful and although i'm biased IMO we have defiantly had more big decisions go against us and it doesn't even itself out over the season.

Hey '55, the weird thing is, what works at one club might not necessarily work anywhere else. And it remains to be seen whether he/Val just had a lucky one-off season with us.
