I think the main reason is that not many Ukrainians are terrorists, at least not unless you are Putin. The one's that seek shelter here will be vetted.
That's a bit different to horde's of young middle eastern men of conscription age coming to a country with an ideology and culture not to mention religion they despise.
There are countries nearer to them that share their culture and beliefs.
I haven't forgotten the terrorist attacks in London and Manchester by religious idiots.
I doubt Ukrainians wouldn't blow us up, they might even show a bit of gratitude for us having them and not set up their own "communities."

What you are really saying, Regis, is that some on this board are racists. You have no idea what people on here do for charity, so I’m sorry if you don’t like this comment, but I find your suggestion somewhat unpleasant.

Most Ukrainians to be fair will want to return to their country even if it’s severely wrecked and bombed as they are passionate and love their country. Before Brexit - to be fair the ones who grafted were the Eastern Europeans who mostly went back. The Polish here in our town work all hours and graft.

Still say there’s no such thing as a free lunch for anyone and monies should be paid back like university loans. No excuse as people should be welcome but tons of jobs in hospitality!

Please do share what you do for charity.

I didn’t call anyone a racist on this board although I do have some believe that some posters here maybe are a little ignorant. I don’t think this of anyone I actually converse with, just to make that clear.

My original post wasn’t just about the threads on here it was about posts and news stories everywhere. Not just this board. I should have made that clearer.
There probably has been one person that’s posted about Ukraine more than anyone else here - that’s probably BaggieAl. So if you think for one sec i’m referring him as being racist then you’re wrong. I recall the posts by baggieal for the afghans some months ago and his views on or sympathy towards the women and children. Clearly not racist.
If this is what you’re trying to stir up then by all means continue, but I won’t fall for the bait.
I’ve argued with many on here before but that never got me anywhere, you included.
There are some posters on here (despite disagreeing on some points on different matters) i’ve still respected them, a change from me. We may just agree to disagree motto, probably best way to approach it.

None of your business. Why should people offer an explanation to a self righteous individual pontificating about how refugees should be treated.

It’s clear to see that you’re just trying to be a moron.. self righteous eh. Don’t give me the bull sh you’re all of a sudden some charity worker. For some reason my post has hit a nerve with you, maybe you feel as though you’re long kept views on refugees is all of sudden been questioned because of your ignorance or maybe racism towards it. So easy to spot your types from a mile off.

Seriously Ketts, Regis is allowed an opinion surely

He wasn’t calling anyone out at all, also you may call it racist we may call it learned racial bias
And some people have no idea if that learned racial bias is even happening unless it’s pointed out

The things that certain people take for granted or for the truth as they grow up scam stay with them intentionally or not intentionally

I feel whatever disagreements in opinion we ahve we should be able to discuss them openly right and I definitely agree with everyone having the right to an opinion

Personally think you bring up some good points and there’s always going to be different views. Your points on Yemen were valued and I responded by saying why are we doing arms deals with the Saudis and not putting pressure on negotiation at the same time to help the Yemen situation! Likewise I don’t get why we should all cosy up to Qatar for the World Cup - and what do they do for Afghanistan? For f uck sake there’s even a Taliban political presence there!

Ukraine is different though because yes it’s within Europe and it’s Hitler 2’s personal war!

Typical, resort to name calling. We’ve been fortunate lately, in not having people like you on here. No wonder so many former posters give the board a miss these days.

There’s racists and xenophobes in EVERY country and every race.

I’ve been racially abused by Pakistani’s on our very own Hawthorns pitch.

I’ve had the Welsh turn from talking fluent English to then speak in Welsh as soon as they’ve realised where I’m from.

What narks me is that it’s always portrayed as middle and old aged white people as rabid racists when everyone who’s commenting on this thread is intelligent enough to know that racists come in all colours and creeds.

To go back to the original point I do tend to agree, there seems to be a lot more sympathy for the Ukrainians coming here than their was for Syrians.

I take Al’s point though, we have huge numbers of women and children wanting safe haven from the Ukraine whereas we had a majority of young Syrian and other nations men coming over on air beds.

    The difference is striking.

I wish we could avoid the hassle these threads cause though.
