    2. 5-0 versus Bradford for the reasons all in attendance will remember.
    3. Not worst overall 90 mins performance but one that sticks in the memory was being 2-0 up against Sarfend at home under Kendall’s reign during that infamous season. Them having not one but two players sent off and then Notts managing to throw away the win drawing 2-2. It was embarrassing and depressing in equal measure.
    4. Brighton Wembley day. Huge crowd, Special place, Perfect age, Great successful outcome.
    5. Individual moment would be the own goal late on at the Baseball Ground under the floodflights. Couldn’t see what actually happened at the other end of the pitch from that atmospheric away end with the awful view, but the home sections of the crowd told us all we needed to know. Started the end to our playoff dreams from that level.
    6. Mate sat next to me had a 2-2 correct score bet and was showing off about his impending (sizeable) winnings moments before an injury time goal from the opposition completely ruined his day. He screwed up and threw the old-fashioned betting slip about 4 rows ahead in anger whilst turning the air blue. Only to then notice that the linesman had his flag up. I’ve never seen the big lad move so fast as he huddled over 4 rows of plastic seats quickly to get it back
    7. Gary McSweegan running riot at Meadow Lane against all the big boys with their packed-out Kop followings
    8. Like most, the old man is to blame.
    9. Nobody else matters
Thanks for opening that old southend wound ! I had managed to forget about that debacle!

Sorry Pedro but even though I can't remember it in great detail, other than I am sure Paul Reece was the goalkeeper that day, it's left a scare ever since.

I've witnessed dozens and dozens of far worst perfomances and duller games at the Lane in all my years but nothing quite as shambolic as the end to that game.

Game management didn't exist that day lol

    I will try this.

    1. First game and any memories of it - Chelsea at home 1980's was a -1-1 draw my dad got free tickets through his ref mate. My first game when I actually supported the club was a 3-1 victory over Walsall after going 1-0 down at half time.

    2. Best performance you've been to (or listened to if you can't get to games) Probably when we destroyed Brighton at Wembley with ease to win the playoffs. We were clinical that day.

    3. Worst performance Live would be Notts 0 Forest 4. I was so excited to see us take on Forest and they destroyed us.

    4. Best moment as a Notts supporter Sitting on the train going home from work in Brisbane and 2 Aussies talking about "did you see that Sven as gone to some club called Notts County". My club was global ( for 5 minutes).

    5. Worst moment Relegation from the EFL.

    6. Funniest moment Watching the reaction online of Notts fans when Kim Engstrom was favourite for the job.

    7. The player you've enjoyed the most (not necessarily the best) Tommy Johnson

    8. How you came to be a Notts supporter Out of pity. As a young lad I was a Liverpool fan. When I got a bit older I started reading the league tables and Notts were fighting for relegation from old Division 2 in the Barker / Lloyd era I think along with the likes of Cardiff and Wolves. I felt sorry for them and the rest is history.

    9. Sum up how you feel about Notts in 3 words Miss going actually.

Without checking, I recall it being Jason Kearton, an Australian we had on loan from somewhere.

My first match was a reserve game on a cold November night probably 1975. My brother Gary took me down in his Cortina and we sat in the old main stand. I cannot remember who we played though. But my brother was playing Sheet Music by 10cc on his cassette player when we were driving to the game. Loved the night match atmosphere.

i think it was kearton , i think he was the reserve Everton keeper at the time and Kendall had returned to his old club for him. Didn't he cost us the goals as well ?.

    Great thread!

    1. Home against Watford on a Tuesday night in 1991 in the playoff season. The warm spring evening and floodlights were intoxicating and I was hooked instantly. I remember Alan Paris scored late on from a Dean Thomas corner at the family stand end. I don't recall much more than that other than it being an incredible experience at the age of 11.

    2. A few to pick from but the 3-2 win against Barnsley in the early 2000s was an unbelievable game. 3-0 against Spurs is up there as well.

    3. Definitely too many to pick from! 5-0 at home to Macc Town or 5-1 at Rushden and Diamonds are definitely up there.

    4. I think winning promotion in 1998 under Big Sam. I remember my Dad telling me to enjoy it because these times are rare. Got nailed in my local that night.

    5. When we got relegated at Gillingham. Needed a win and 1-0 up in the 89th minute to lose 3-1. To cap it off I was listening at home with a mate who supports Gillingham. I still don't think I've recovered! I blame Liam Noble's lacklustre attempt to stop the cross and Roy Carroll not coming off his line.

    6. Has to be Sean Farrell smashing a pre match warm up shot into the Notts fans at Brentford and hitting a bloke square in the face as he was pouring coffee from his flask. Showered him and everyone around.

    7. Lee Hughes and Dean Thomas. I really liked Stanley Aborah as well.

    8. My Dad. I've passed on the curse to my two boys.

    9. Why effing me 😄

    1. First game and any memories of it

Can't remember the exact one, but it was an evening game in the late 1970 or early 1971 season and we won.

    2. Best performance you've been to (or listened to if you can't get to games)

Has to be the cup win at Leeds in 1975. It might not sound that impressive today, but in those days Leeds were like Man City are now but even more dominant. We went away and beat a full strength Leeds who were the best team in the land.

    3. Worst performance

Unfortunately so, so many choices! I would go for one of the 0-1 home defeats when McParland was manager when we lost to a really poor team without having a worthwhile attempt on goal ourselves, and it was hard to stay awake.

    4. Best moment as a Notts supporter

Probably the aforementioned win at Leeds, but Les Bradd's 89th minute winner at the City Ground comes a close second. The journey back from both games have lasting memories. When we stopped off at a service station on the way back from Elland Road (quite a short journey but a few needed a 'relief' break) I remember a bloke who had clearly celebrated in style telling a petrol pump that "Notts have just beaten Leeds"! When we won at Forest I always caught the bus home from the long gone Mount Street bus station. I never made a slower walk back than that day, because listening to the whinging scum fans was music to my ears and something I remember to this day.

    5. Worst moment

Relegation to non-league by some distance. We had flirted with it, but I never thought it would actually happen.

    6. Funniest moment

Not strictly Notts, but finding out that Forest had lost at home to Yeovil in the playoffs. They won the away leg 0-2 and I went on holiday the day of the second leg. This was the game the infamous "Where are you sitting at Wembley?" quote started. I only knew they had lost when seeing Yeovil play Blackpool in the final in a Turkish bar, but I've enjoyed the highlights many, many times.

    7. The player you've enjoyed the most (not necessarily the best)

Enjoyed the most and the best - Sir Don Masson.

    8. How you came to be a Notts supporter

A combination of youthful rebellion where you don't do what you're expected to do, and a love for the underdog. Despite current league positions, if I could turn the clock back I would do exactly the same.

    9. Sum up how you feel about Notts in 3 words

    Frustrating but addictive.

    1. First game and any memories of it

1973, beat Plymouth 2-0. I think Vinter scored - if so, it was one of his earliest.

    2. Best performance you've been to (or listened to if you can't get to games)

1973, beat Tranmere 4-1 to get promotion. “Nice one Sirrel.” But it was also the match I remember for the moaning when McManus didn’t save their goal; apparently Roy Brown would have saved it if he hadn’t been in hospital.

    3. Worst performance

1973, first home match of the season in Div 2, and Sunderland brought us down to earth with a 4-1 bump after we’d won 4-1 at Palace. Howay the lads indeed.

    4. Best moment as a Notts supporter

Scanlon’s hat trick, though we only drew after leading 3-1.

    5. Worst moment

    Too many to choose from.

    6. Funniest moment

Watching Notts is no laughing matter.

    7. The player you've enjoyed the most (not necessarily the best)

    Ray O’Brien

    8. How you came to be a Notts supporter

I was always an awkward beggar who chose not to follow fashion.

    9. Sum up how you feel about Notts in 3 words.

    Hurt but hopeful.
