That's not like you Boingy, you've normally a bit more bounce about you than that.

I know, its just that Bruce can't win more than three games in a row and that was almost 10 years ago now when he last did it. Didn't Blackburn have a run of about 10 wins in a row last season? That's what I would like to see but Brucie would have to have the best season of his career to do that. With this squad? I just seriously doubt it. Is all.

I know the stats are difficult to follow (for me at least) but they do show that last season we were 17th in goals scored but 3rd in goal scoring chances created. It didn’t feel like that but I do have to say we missed so many real sitters last season. The goal scoring chances number is calculated by higher numbers for clear shorts near to goal, to low numbers for long range shots and is consistent across all the clubs.

If we had have managed to convert more of those chances, especially the easy ones, we would have finished higher in the league. For me it just confirms that we must get another out and out striker for this season now, not in the January window.
As others have said one of our big problems last season was our lack of goals and whilst I certainly got the impression that part of this was due to an uncreative midfield I also can't disagree with you about the number of "sitters" missed. We did go through a seemingly unending period where we couldn't seem to hit a barn door-made all the worse by Cleary banging them in at the time!

I have hopes that Dike will prove a decent goal scorer but agree another striker would be useful as Grant has had too many "confidence issues"

I have to agree with '68 on this. You are usually one of the most optimistic posters, regarding Albion, on this site. If we can make a couple more additions before the window closes we should be OK and I think that it's a better squad than this time last year. I'm not saying that we'll go up automatically but we should be there or thereabouts. Hopefully!

For a change we have done some brilliant business in this window and done most of it early. I am very optimistic!

Based on our transfer activity I'm certainly more optimistic than I was 3 months ago. Swift and Wallace looks great business, Dike is like another new player, Diangana might just get back some form and I have feeling a fully fit Mowatt will show the form of the first few games of last season. His injury which he apparently played through coincided with a drop off in results.

What is it hope does to you?
