I was out after five minutes, that was not what I was expecting at all, I was then on the edge of the settee, not behind it, for the rest of the game. But, there's always a but isn't there, as you hint, keep playing like that and we'll be back in that corrupt, big money pantomime next season, whereas I much prefer us where we are now. Not sure how to square that circle.

Incidentally, I did ask recently whether Vinni's revolutionary attacking Burnley team would outscore Sean's 15/16 Championship team, well we did play at Huddersfield that season and Sean's lads won 3-1, so Vinni's lads have a bit of catching up to do. Just saying like.

My question of a couple of weeks ago - would one rather see us struggling in the PL week in and week out, or winning in the Championship - has been answered. It was entertaining, it was exciting, it was Burnley playing the opposition off the park and away from home! No defending for our lives and hoping to “nick a goal” or be on the right side of “them fine margins”.

Whilst it would be great to hold onto Cornet, last night’s performance showed that we can still be good without him. Perhaps the money, put to good use will be no bad thing. We do need to increase the options upfront.

We also dominated midfield. When was the last time that happened? Cullen was exceptional.

Playing out from the back also helped. We actually kept possession rather than lumping the ball forward only to give the ball back to the opponents. We also appear to be able to get the ball down and pass it to a teammate. Unheard of under Dyche.

Let’s see how it goes against Luton at home. Cause for much optimism.

Not a big concern of mine Matelot, I'm never convinced those prowling their technical areas have that much of a bearing on the result of a game. I'm sure every PL manager has sussed out by now how Liverpool and City play, but it's a bugger telling their players how to stop them. Of course City and Liverpool have the best players, far more crucial than anything some tactical genius on the touchline can come up with. Do we have the best players in the Championship, that's a more significant question for me, on the assumption that Huddersfield are at least par for the course at this level, I think the signs were there last night that there won't be too many better. We'll see.

Wanderers have been playing that way for a couple of seasons now and it's definitely more entertaining but the approach is not without problems...
* playing out from the back can be nerve shredding at times especially if the opposition have a good high press or your defenders can be hustled into making mistakes
* when you have a lot of possession, the opposition tends to fall back into a low block so then it's a job to pick out goals against a packed well organised defence and that can be very frustrating
* beware the fast counterattack - you definitely need pace at the back to cover the breaks
Our main criticism of Evatt is that it's one thing to try to play the Barca/City way but you need Barca/City quality players to execute it properly - and we can't afford them so it can be worrying and frustrating at times.
That said, your lot looked comfortable with it last night and I think you'll be fine - but I bet my bottom dollar that you'll encounter all three of the above issues at some point. Everything will depend on what solutions Kompany has up his sleeve.

The assumption that Huddersfield are par for the course in this division is wide of the mark. They were very poor, losing both of their “ best players” recently and it showed big time. Two shots all game, none of them on target. They improved slightly in the second half, but by then, we should have been 4 goals up and out of sight. I’m not sure Muric even got his gloves dirty.An away win without conceding ,is not to be sniffed at. Here’s to us adding a few more.

The assumption that Huddersfield are par for the course in this division is wide of the mark. They were very poor,

Huddersfield finished 3rd in the Championship last season, they reached the Play off Final at Wembley, 7 of the players who played against us last night played at Wembley, 2 more were on the bench at Wembley. They may have lost two of their best players but they were not a two man team, there is no such thing at this level, and the basis of the 3rd placed team is still there. The betting markets suggest that they are weaker than last season, they're generally priced up to finish just below half-way, so I think my assumption that they're around average for this division is fair and reasonable.

They were poor last night, but you can only play as well as your opponents let you, and we didn't let them play. Doesn't mean they're a poor team though, many decent PL teams look poor when they're up against the best, like City and Liverpool, that could be why Huddersfield looked poor last night, they were up against one of the best teams in the division. Anyway, that's my theory, and I'm sticking to it until I'm proved wrong.

I thought we'd beaten a decent Championship team at Huddersfield, Mal didn't agree. Huddersfield are now in the bottom three. I have to hold my hand up, Mal was right, I was wide of the mark.
