Jay can play this style of football. He is an intelligent player that can link the play. I thought our midfield look very "leggy" and failed to pass accurately and quickly enough. We were away and they are a very good solid team who will be up there at season end. Lets not forget, this is a new team playing a totally different type of football so miracles are not on the cards. We did not lose but honestly we did not deserve to win now did we? Yes, we should have seen the game out, but last year our team conceded plenty of times in the last 5/10 mins with players that are now in the Premier league. We are moving in the right direction but there is plenty of work to do which is what VK has been saying. Work in progress.
I don't think there will be many teams which who will attack us as did West Brom, fortunately they were just as bad at finishing as we were.
it appears that three games in a week is too much for some of our midfield. But we should have scored at least two more than we did which would have killed the game off.
I have thought for the last few games that Roberts is the weak link.
A game we could easily have won, a game we could easily have lost, with irrefutable logic therefore, I reckon a draw was a fair result. I'd have settled for a point beforehand.
On reflection a good point.3 games in six days was too much for us.We were dominated tonight but the ref was dreadful.Should have had a second penalty and there were some nasty fouls by the Baggies that were not given.Churlinov and Barnes should both have put the game to bed.UTC.
Great game for the neutral - and in this game (only) I was as my Baggie mate persuaded me a few weeks ago whilst in a drunken haze to put money on a double with the Wanderers and West Brom getting promoted from their respective leagues - but...
you should have won.
I thought you had the better chances other than Taylor's excellent tackle when the forward didn't control it properly.
That said, West Brom didn't let you play the expansive game Vinnie would like - and teams will do that now they know what Vinnie wants you to do.
Still confused why Roberts kneed it across the box for their equaliser when he could have swung his left foot and even if he'd missed the ball completely they wouldn't have scored unless he'd scored a spectacular OG.
But it's a point and it's early doors. And you've paid off your debt and still got a competitive team with a good chance of promotion which is very impressive.
Robert’s got exposed when my old mate the ice man came on , the back line was under pressure today because we didn’t / couldn’t retain the ball enough as we have in previous games - cork failed to keep
- control or pass to our players ( heavy legs )
It was a conundrum all round as Cullen struggled in direct reaction to cork having a shocker , as his easy lay offs and one twos couldn’t be played as WBA took the ball of him.
Hard to tell VK what to do , but I think he maybe got the formation wrong , we didn’t expect them to boss it centrally and have the ball for prolonged spells , the midfield got overran and put the defence under much more pressure than it’s used to in our previous games.
We didn’t lose, and should have won really but I think VK will have learnt from that performance a lot about physicality and what needs addressing in games.
