Looking at the back page of the programme yesterday, it was striking how many more players Altrincham had in their squad compared to ours. We’ve got three defenders out injured at the moment and are down to the bare bones at the back. We’re going to have to be very lucky with injuries and suspensions with such a small squad.

As for early rating, I’d go for B+. Most encouraging start at this level, but still more work to be done.

You would have question if any of that squad was any good though and we've been there before with the big squad of tosh many many times. So hopefully we just bring in a couple of good ones in radar we trust.

    Agree.

Quality over quantity. I've seen many a back page of a programme whilst sat in the Derek Pavis stand with one sides squad comfortably outnumbered. I suspected padding. Give the youth players a trip to Nottingham

As for the grade B+/A- is unsurprisingly the universal rating awarded by NCM. Although a few of the class have played truant today.

Said it before, but I’m much happier carrying a small squad in a league without a transfer window than I would be having players hanging around not doing anything.

Everyone we have on the books has now contributed positively this season after Adebayo-Rowling’s display on Saturday. Generally our bench has at least three players you could make a strong argument deserve to be starting.

We’ll have to be good with our loans when injuries inevitably come, but so far so good.

Didn't Macca & Scott both have a 65000 release clause

I read we paid 50k for Macca but I am hardly in the know.

If you want greater insight into the latter problem then Juvenile Truancy by Marcus Absent is recommended reading.

    If there’s an A* and an A+ I’d give us an A.
I wish we hadn’t sat the Chesterfield exam so early. I think we’d do better now.

Too right its all about timing. Although that comeback to deny Chesterfield victory (so close to winning it too) after a very inconsistent performance looks increasingly important. You can't be losing your home games against promotion rivals.

    I'd go A-
A better start than most deep down expected. Improved as more games played. Now seem to be in a mode. Cut out the sloppy play at the back at times, up to an A then. Promotion saved for A+
