Muric came out like he wasn't exactly sure what he was supposed to be doing, and I don't think he did. Has he never heard of the concept of 'making yourself bigger' for instance ? From the camera angle behind the goal, it looked all too easy for Ince to place the ball past him. He's a lot to learn.
I watched it back a couple of times on TV from behind the goal which reaffirmed my opinion from my vantage point in the Jimmy Mac Upper that he was awfully slow off his line.

Meanwhile, Pope continues to rack up clean sheets like they are going out of fashion.

What do us old dinosaurs know about modern goalkeeping? We watched duffers like Colin McDonald, Adam Blacklaw, Alan Stevenson, Gordon Banks, Pat Jennings et al.
Adam Blacklaw would have wiped him out on the other side of the penalty box. Result = free kick on the edge of the area and not an undeserved breakaway goal.

Yes, Adam was great to watch and he also coached our team at Gisburn back in the 1960s ---smashing bloke. Having said that, in these modern times, he would have been found guilty of something because he was out of his box and probably sent off, whereas, if he had fouled inside the box and given away a penalty, he would have been still in position to save the penalty. Bloody Laws of the Game and their interpretation ---can you keep up?

Little story I have told before I was about 10 and we had won a little lads' 5-a-side league in Hyndburn.

The presentation was to be made on the Baxenden Recreation Ground after our final game which we also won.

A table was set up for the medals and none other than an immaculately suited and booted Mr Adam Blacklaw appeared to present it.

My mum had come to watch the presentation and was in full "swoon mode" when she was introduced to Adam. She invited him back to our house for a cuppa and a piece of cake. To my eternal delight he graciously accepted, even my tad jealous dad was taken aback by Adam.

They do not make men like Adam Blacklaw these days and that is for certain.

Aye, and his mate at right-back continues to provide a constant stream of delicious crosses from the right, that Harry Kane can only dream about when he plays for England, while Mr S will play anyone at right-back for England, providing it's not Tripps, who I think he sees as his third choice left-back.

To be fair Pickford had another blinder for Everton, as far as England is concerned, Nick's goose has been well and truly cooked, his chips have been peed upon, it's a shame, but it is what it is.
