A few strange things going on
I’d go with what the fiver bloke says and assume she’s not in the water

The phone could be a decoy, I think someone has abducted her
I feel so sorry for her family and friends
But I do wonder if all this would have happened had it been a lady with a bit more melanin in her or somewhere else in the country not quite as middle class

I agree with BS and fully get the post so the question is - had a little girl not gone missing in Portugal to professional doctors or had this dog walking woman not been a mortgage broker in a sleepy little village in her detached house - would the news coverage have been plastered everywhere if the girl in Portugal was the daughter of a bin man or the dog walker Asian, Black or mixed race? No - does not sell newspapers or be prominent on Sky News! Sad but true!!

There’s plenty of poor background kids like Tia Sharp and Shannon Mathews and the little girl who was abducted and murdered in Wales, April Jones who all lived on council estates.

The girls in Soham weren’t from wealthy families either, I could go on and on.

I just don’t get this sneering attitude towards the middle classes these days, I have news for the majority of you if you don’t already realise this but you yourself are likely to be middle class nowadays.

I’m not a fan of our police in a lot of situations but where we do excel ( generally ) is in solving child murders and with these sorts of mysteries.

I don’t buy the fact that she’s getting the attention due to being a certain class......she’s getting the attention because she’s a woman and mother and because she obviously has a large number of friends who are doing their utmost to keep the case profile high.

It very often comes down to the family and friends to drive this sort of thing.

If you look back at the Tia Sharp case and Shannon Mathews the quite poor council estates they were living on really formed a massive force of willing people.

Nicola Bulley has disappeared at around 9.30am on a working day in broad daylight having been seen and spoken with minutes earlier.

It’s the sort of case that makes women, mothers and fathers and grandparents really fearful.......that’s what’s driving this.

To bring social class and colour into this situation is really uncalled for.

If it’s been a 45 year old Asian woman it would still be headline news.

If it were a 45 year old woman off a council estate it would still be headline news.

I feel for the family, it’s like they’re now getting hammered for being middle class white FFS.

But people go missing every day and don’t get such publicity. My guess is she’s gone into the river. I am sure if somebody wanted to abduct a female they would choose someone younger and better looking - like that poor Everard girl. If someone had abducted her - where’s the proof ie footprints - fibres - cameras - phone finger prints etc. Can’t believe a chancer/s would have been so professional in a non descript village with a married dog walker.

In terms of the McCann girl I do honestly feel if they weren’t professional doctors but shelf stackers etc they wouldn’t have got half the publicity. I would never have left my kids in a hotel room with security let alone an apartment near a main road. Isn’t the whole point of a family holiday to have your children with you even if they fall asleep in a stroller or chair!

The young girl stabbed to death in the park which is so sad had a fraction of the dog walker coverage - why? Both are absolutely tragic but a young girl of this age is even more heart breaking for me!

I was going to say, it’s usually a pretty face that makes the headlines.. like the everard women.

Then again this doesn’t hold true if you’re shamima.

But then with shamima (i know not related to missing person) she’s in the headlines because it sells and it really riles the daily mailers up.

    To summarise:
Non-white criminal activity makes the headlines = £££

A pretty white missing person makes the headlines = £££

    What was tricky Mick?

    Autocorrect replaced diver for fiver
By all this had happened I was referring to the widespread media coverage

Apart from that what’s the issue?

Even by your standards that's low.

Your family must be really proud of you.

No one is hammering them for being middle class
Try and read and understand what people are saying

It’s that there isn’t the same clamber for headlines and awareness for certain sections of the community
I can’t see how you can dispute that
