Chalky and Frank, what did / do you think of 'Jesus Christ Superstar'?

Looking back on your choices I forgot to mention Peter Skellern,that's an unusual choice as I can't even remember the last time that I heard him on the radio

Simon and Garfunkel are top class of course,I enjoy listening to the early S+G albums when they was folkier but The Boxer and the Bridge over Troubled Water has its moments but nowhere the legendary status that it's sometimes given,Paul Simon brought out some solo great albums that outshine Graceland but that's considered his best,I beg to differ although it's good

Peter Skellern sang on some of the Alan Parsons Project albums and very good he was too. Strange but true. Ill look some out later

I bought 'You're A Lady' and his LP 'Astaire' which contained the songs that Astaire sang in films, written by the likes of the Gershwins. I like the way that Skellern used brass bands.

I quite enjoyed that song Griff,I've never heard it before but when he sang "As far as my eyes can see" it sounded strangely familiar,has anyone ever compared that line to any other song?

This git has been bugging me all weekend so I dug out an old Blunstone cd that I haven't listened to in a good ten years and what's on there but Old and Wise although a different version to the Alan Parsons Project version...

Yes, I was aware of it but it would only be known to people who had actually seen a full film version or theatrical version or who bought
one of the various discs (concept disc and several discs of the stage show casts) of Jesus Christ Superstar. Thus the parody context would not be understood by the majority of people. Perhaps it still stands on its own merits. Or perhaps seeing the parody, some people may look for the original on the internet. Although there is no full version of Jesus Christ Superstar on the YouTube there are videos of the individual songs in the context of the films, stage shows, original concept disc and several cast discs.

Bought original album, went to West End show and have DVD of the film.
