I'm not the dinner party type. All that small talk and lobbing keys into a bowl just isn't my bag.

Basically best 8 scores of last 20 but it jumps about a bit.

Gone are the days of going up 0.1

Imho it's exciting in that you can go up or down quickly but so open to abuse it's not true.

A cple of weeks ago my partner and I lost a club greensomes 3&2 to a 24 handicap and 33 handicap player

We played 6 under our greensomes handicap but lost to a team that played 12 under.🫣

I've never seen a 24 handicap and 33 handicap golfer go round a golf course without hitting 1 naff shot.
These new rules certainly seems to encourage ‘bandits’ playing in match play golf competitions.
The simple solution in my opinion is to stop playing in match play competitions until this shambles gets sorted out.
The previous handicap system with people going up 0.1 or their handicap being reduced by 0.1, 0.2, 0.3 or 0.4 for each stroke under the Competition Standard Score (CSS) depending on their handicap category encouraged ‘pot hunters’.
It look a long time for golfers to get to their true handicap and in the meantime they won a lot of match play competitions.
Back then golfers could have their handicap reduced by reputation but it rarely happened.
I know of one member of Downfield GC who had their handicap of 18 reduced by reputation after this golfer qualified for the scratch section of the Craws Nest Tassie at Carnoustie.

    Wee example today Islay.

Scored 35 pts in Friday stableford and cut by 0.1.

So as you can see playing over your handicap and you can still be cut as my score today slightly better than my 8th best in last 20.

My main problem with it is those that put in an exceptional round to win something, instead of slowly climbing back up by 0.1 can be back up at your winning mark in two or three rounds.

And you can play under your handicap, win the medal and go up. 😆

Seems a tad complicated for an auld man's walk about?
The golf handicap system allows golfers of differing ability to play golf with or against each other.

Or Michael Russell who is now President of the SNP four year generations.
Badminton handicap matches are played on your type of handicap system. One couple or person starts the game at plus 10 while the opposition depending on how good they are can start at minus 10 which the first to 21 being the winner.
When I played golf the handicap system was a lot simpler.
The golfer with the lowest handicap played off scratch (0) and the strokes were given out based on the handicaps of the other players which was three quarters of the difference.
